Structural Modification of Sugarcane Bagasse using Alkaline, Acid, and Bleaching Pretreatments for Enhanced Yield of Poly (1→4)-β-D-glucopyranose (Cellulose) and Hemicellulose for Utilization as Biocomposites
Abstract: Sugarcane bagasse, a lignocellulosic byproduct generated in substantial quantities by the sugar industry, represents a promising feedstock for the sustainable production of enzymes and bio-based chemicals. Its high (1→4)-β-D-glucopyranose (cellulose) content, abundant availability, and low cost make it an ideal candidate for bioconversion processes. However, the inherent recalcitrance of bagasse, primarily due to its lignin-rich matrix, necessitates effective pretreatment strategies to enhance enzymatic digestibility. This study presents a comparative investigation …

Water Absorption and Mechanical Behaviour of Bagasse Fibre and Particle-Reinforced Hybrid Composite Materials
Abstract: This study investigates the mechanical behaviour and water absorption characteristics of bagasse fibre and groundnut shell particle (GSP)-reinforced hybrid composites using a phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin matrix. Varying weight fractions of GSP (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) were incorporated into the composites, with bagasse fibre content kept constant at 30% by weight. Tensile, flexural, and impact strengths were measured, and the water absorption behaviour was evaluated following ASTM standards. The results indicated …

Composite Behavior of Bagasse Ash Stabilized Expansive Soil with Sodium Benzophenone Under Curing Conditions
Abstract: The present investigation examines the development of a hybrid composite using Black Cotton (BC) soil, Bagasse Ash (BA), and Sodium Benzophenone (SBP) as performance-enhancing elements. Different ratios of BA, a silica-rich agro-industrial by-product, were added to improve pozzolanic reactivity and particle size distribution (0%, 6%, and 12%). SBP was added in the range of 0–0.6% as a compatibilizer in order to enhance interfacial adhesion, particle cohesivity and moisture-assisted deterioration resistance. …

Red Earth Development of a Soil-Based Composite Using Bagasse Ash and Lime: Effects on Plasticity and Compaction Characteristics of Red Earth
Abstract: The concept of sustainable soil composites (SSC) emerges through blending red earth with bagasse ash (BA) and hydrated lime to enhance geotechnical properties and enable productive reuse of agro-industrial waste. Red earth functions as the matrix, BA acts as a fine pozzolanic microfiller, and lime serves as the chemical binder. BA content ranges from 0% to 60%, with 10% identified as optimal; subsequent lime additions from 1% to 5% evaluate …

Mechanical Behavioral Analysis of Sugarcane Bagasse, Coconut Fiber and Kevlar Fiber Reinforced Composite with Micrographs
Abstract: Asbestos and alloys are materials that are frequently used as brake pads; however, because these materials pose risks to human health and the environment, including lung cancer, it is necessary to replace the materials used in brake pads. In place of the current brake pads, composite fibers such as kevlar, sugarcane bagasse, and coconut are studied in this study. The procedure of manually laying up composite molding is used to …

Enhancing Concrete Performance Through Ternary Mixtures: Utilizing SCBA and Silica Fume for Sustainable Construction
Abstract: This study investigates the effects of incorporating Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) and Silica Fume (SF) as supplementary cementitious materials on the properties of concrete. Compressive strength, split tensile strength, and water absorption characteristics of ternary blended concrete mixes containing varying proportions of SCBA and SF were examined at curing periods of 7, 28, and 56 days. The results reveal that up to 15% SCBA replacement and 10% SF addition led …

Fabrication and Analysis of Al 7075 Based Metal Matrix Composites - A Review
Abstract: Aluminium 7075 alloys are extensively used in aerospace, marine, aviation, and automotive industries due to their superior mechanical properties, high strength-to-weight ratio, and low density. However, to further enhance their performance, aluminium-7075 metal matrix composites (AMMCs) are developed by incorporating various reinforcements. This paper focuses on the influence of reinforcements on the mechanical, tribological, and corrosion behavior of AMMCs. The study examines fabrication techniques, particularly the stir casting method, which …

Critical Overview: Preparation of Bioplastics Using Different Reinforcement Fillers
Abstract: The widespread use of synthetic plastics poses a significant threat to the environment due to their nonbiodegradable nature and reliance on nonrenewable petrochemical sources. Among these, single-use plastics are of particular concern as they are difficult to recycle efficiently. To mitigate this issue, bioplastics offer a promising alternative, as they are derived from renewable sources and are biodegradable. Bioplastics are produced using natural materials, such as plant, animal, and microbial …
