Experimental Investigation and Surface Morphology Study on Areca Fiber Composite Material
Abstract: Composites manufactured from areca fibers had their characteristics assessed in recent research. Shape and size were determined by cutting the stem. It takes six months to dry the fibers once they are taken from the tree stem. Because pectin, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin make up the bulk of it. It has great regeneration capacity and is a resource material made of wood fibers. The untreated and chemically treated fibers are …

Chemical Modifications and Tensile Properties of Areca Leaf Sheath Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Areca leaf sheath (ALS) fiber is a promising eco-friendly material, offering a sustainable, lightweight, and cost-effective alternative for low-strength applications. Its natural biodegradability aligns well with the growing global demand for environmentally responsible materials. This review explores the transformative effects of chemical treatments, such as alkali, silane, and benzoylation, on the tensile properties of Areca leaf sheath fibers. Among these, alkali treatment consistently demonstrates the most significant improvement in tensile …

Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Arecanut Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composite
Abstract: This study investigates the mechanical performance of arecanut fiber-reinforced epoxy composites, aiming to evaluate their potential for sustainable industrial applications. Arecanut husk fibers, an agricultural waste product, were selected for their natural abundance and biodegradability. To enhance fiber-matrix bonding, the fibers were chemically treated with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), which effectively removes lignin, hemicellulose, and other impurities, improving surface roughness and interfacial adhesion. The treated fibers were then incorporated into an …

Hybrid Epoxy Composites with Areca and Abaca Fibers: Effect of Nano-SiO₂ on Mechanical Properties
Abstract: This study explores the fabrication and mechanical evaluation of sustainable epoxy-based hybrid composites reinforced with Areca fiber (ARF), Abaca fiber (ABF), and nano-silica (SiO₂). The composites were made using a hand layup process, maked five variants (S1–S5) with ARF content ranging from 0–40 wt% and nano-silica content from 0–8 wt%, while maintaining ABF as the primary reinforcement. Mechanical performance was assessed through tensile strength (TS), flexural strength (FS), and impact …

Flexural Response and Numerical simulation of Unidirectional Areca–Pineapple Leaf Fiber Hybrid Epoxy Composites
Abstract: The increasing demand for lightweight and environmentally sustainable materials has accelerated the development of natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites for engineering applications. In the present study, unidirectional areca and pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) reinforced hybrid epoxy composites were fabricated using a simple hand lay-up process. Before fabrication, the fibers were chemically treated to improve fiber–matrix adhesion and enhance the mechanical performance of the laminates. Four different stacking sequences (A8, A7P1, A6P2, …

Experimental Study on Mechanical and Tribological Characterization of Arecanut Shell Fibre Reinforced Composites with MWCNT Nanofillers
Abstract: Natural fiber-reinforced composites (NFRCs) are emerging as sustainable alternatives to conventional synthetic composites due to their eco-friendliness, cost-effectiveness, and favorable mechanical properties. This study evaluates the mechanical and tribological performance of Areca Nutshell Fiber (ANSF)-reinforced epoxy composites with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as nanofillers. The composites were fabricated using the vacuum bag molding technique. Tensile tests assessed strength, modulus, and elongation, while flexural tests evaluated bending resistance. Pin-on-disc tests examined …
