Abstract

The rate at which non-renewable resources are consumed increases, the research of using eco-friendly and sustainable materials has been in the spotlight lately. The companies from different industries are trying to find replacements for traditional synthetic materials to limit their environmental impact and promote sustainable eco-friendly initiatives. One such approach is the usage of natural fiber polymer composites as it provides a biodegradable and renewable structural alternative over traditional synthetic reinforcements. This paper focuses on the bio-based composites made from natural fibers such as sisal, silk, and areca nut, and examines their development and grew the interest in industrial applications of these substitutes. The mechanical properties measured using tensile and flexural tests. FTIR was used for structural analysis. The results of this study suggest that bio-based natural fiber reinforced composites can reasonably be expected to possess adequate mechanical, strength, and durability and therefore can be considered for application in automotive, aerospace, or construction industries. This research plays a crucial part in advancing the field of green composites, demonstrating that natural fiber reinforcements can be successfully integrated into polymer matrices without compromising performance. By promoting the use of sustainable materials, this study encourages industries to adopt greener solutions, ultimately contributing to environmental conservation and reducing dependency on non-renewable resources. During in our project period we are laminating the fibre matrix using the sisal fibre and epoxy, glass fibre and epoxy and finally combination of sisal-glass fibre and epoxy. We have also compared the mechanical properties with all prepared laminates by tensile and flexural test.
