An Alternative Access Vein for Chemo Port Placement in a Case of Bilateral Breast Cancer: Intraoperative Axillary Vein Approach
Abstract: The long-term access to veins for periodic infusion of chemotherapeutic drugs is desirable due to various reasons. This can be achieved by either percutaneous or surgical cut down approaches, each with its own merits and demerits. In a patient with bilateral breast cancer the insertion of port can be worrisome and various alternative access veins have been described. Here we describe a case of woman with bilateral breast cancer where …

Varicose Veins and its Management in Unani and Modern System of Medicine
Abstract: The varicose vein is defined as “dilated tortuous and elongated superficial veins of the lower limb”. Dawali (varicose veins) is one of the commonest categories of primary venous insufficiency. Varicose veins are classified into primary and secondary types. Primary varicose veins occur more frequently, and are caused by incompetent or absent valves, defective connective tissue and smooth muscle weakness in venous wall and are usually hereditary in nature. As per …

A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Health Instruction Module (HIM) on Knowledge Regarding Varicose Vein and DVT and its Preventive Measures Among Laborers in Selected Small Scale Industries at Greater Noida
Abstract: Varicose veins square measure veins that became enlarged and tortuous. The term usually refers to theveins on the leg, though unhealthy veins will occur elsewhere. Veins have leaflet valves to stop bloodfrom flowing backwards (retrograde flow or reflux). Leg muscles pump the veins to come back bloodto the Heart (the calf muscle pump mechanism), against the results of gravity. When veins becomeunhealthy, the leaflets of the valves now not meet …

Working Profession and Posture as Risk Factors in A Sample Population of Lower Limb Varicose Veins- An Observational Study
Abstract: AbstractPrimary varicose veins are a typical manifestation of chronic venous insufficiency. The aetiology of varicose veins is still incompletely understood despite the fact that it is a very common disease affecting all ages from teenagers to elderly people. The prevalence of varicose veins varies substantially in different parts of the world. The present study was designed to investigate the various risks factors and clinical manifestations of the occurrence of lower …

In-Silico Docking of Rubia cordifolia Phytocompounds as Potential MMP-2 Inhibitors for Varicose Vein Management
Abstract: Varicose veins are one of the most common disorders, affecting the vein structure and function of lower limbs, yet there has been no absolute cure found yet. One of the underlying causes for worsening of the condition is the proteolytic activity of MMPs which are a group of enzymes that affect the extracellular matrix (ECM) surrounding the affected veins. Phytocompounds of Rubia cordifolia (Manjishta) were docked against the MMP-2 protein …

Prevention of Varicose Veins
Abstract: Varicose veins are abnormal, dilated blood vessels caused by weakening in the vessel wall. Such conditions that increase pressure on the leg veins such as overweight, lack of exercises, hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy and menopause, smoking; constipation or people who have prolonged standing or sedentary position or repeated heavy lifting make veins of legs very weak and develop into varicose veins. Researchers report that a mild care of varicose veins …

Methods to Increase Peripheral Veins Visualization in Patients Getting Chemotherapy
Abstract: Peripheral intravenous catheter insertion is a common nursing procedure often required for the administration of chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood products, fluids and other medical therapies. The insertion of intravenous cannula can be extremely difficult, particularly in individuals receiving repeated course of chemotherapy. Because of the nature of chemotherapeutic drugs, the veins may get damaged and makes the intravenous cannulation difficult. The current article highlights certain methods which can enhance the visualization …

DVT in Athletes: A Physiotherapist’s Approach to Prevention, Early Detection, and Rehabilitation
Abstract: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious medical condition where blood clots develop in the deep veins, most often in the lower limbs. While it is traditionally associated with immobility, athletes are also at risk due to factors like prolonged travel, injuries, dehydration, and genetic predispositions. This paper explores the role of physiotherapists in preventing, detecting, and rehabilitating DVT in athletes. Preventive strategies include promoting hydration, active recovery, circulatory exercises, …
