Effect of lime content of lime-stabilized A-4 Soils in the Unconfined Compressive Resistance
Abstract: This paper is part of a research project carried out between Geotechnical Office of Dr. Barbero & collaborators and Weg Ingeniería, from Italy and Argentina, respectively. Given the multiple applications of soils improvement with lime, in this research we proceed to develop correlations on the bases of results obtained by geotechnical tests, according to international standards, realized in A-4 soils at different contents of lime. The goal is to have …

Effect of Alccofine and Tyre buffings on Engineering Properties of Sand
Abstract: In the present paper, the effect of alccofine and tyre buffings addition on the compression and bearing ratio of sand are evaluated through laboratory study. On the basis of compaction test, a reference mix composed of sand + 12 % alccofine + 2 % tire buffing was selected for further study. The unconfined compression and bearing ratio test on the reference mix was then carried out by curing the sample …

Composite Behavior of Bagasse Ash Stabilized Expansive Soil with Sodium Benzophenone Under Curing Conditions
Abstract: The present investigation examines the development of a hybrid composite using Black Cotton (BC) soil, Bagasse Ash (BA), and Sodium Benzophenone (SBP) as performance-enhancing elements. Different ratios of BA, a silica-rich agro-industrial by-product, were added to improve pozzolanic reactivity and particle size distribution (0%, 6%, and 12%). SBP was added in the range of 0–0.6% as a compatibilizer in order to enhance interfacial adhesion, particle cohesivity and moisture-assisted deterioration resistance. …

Improvement of Properties of Expansive Soil using Terrazyme
Abstract: Enzymatic emulsions contain enzymes that react with soil molecules to form a cementing bond that stabilizes the soil structure and reduces the soil’s affinity for water. When the bio-enzymes like Terrazyme, are mixed with soil they alter its engineering properties. When added to a soil, the enzymes increases the wetting and bonding capacity of the soil particles and improves the chemical bonding between soil particles and creating a more permanent …

Assessing the Variation in Cutback Asphalt Requirement for Various Geotechnical Properties of Asphalt Stabilized Soil
Abstract: The subgrade layer must be strong to resist shear failure, tensile stresses and have adequate stiffness to avoid and resist excessive pavement deformation. Available fill materials do not always meet these requirements and may require improvement of their engineering properties, soil stabilization with liquid asphalt may be an alternative to improve the stability, adhesion and waterproofing properties which are desired for embankment construction purpose. The soil in this investigation represents …
