Optimizing MEMS-Based Energy Harvesting with Piezoelectric and Thermoelectric Polymer Composites
Abstract: This research explores the development and performance of polymer-based composites, particularly Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) and Electro active Polymers (EAPs), in MEMS-based energy harvesting systems. PVDF, a flexible piezoelectric material, is combined with ceramic powders such as lead zirconatetitanate (PZT) to enhance its piezoelectric response while retaining mechanical flexibility. EAPs, including ionic polymer-metal composites (IPMCs) and dielectric elastomers, are investigated for their ability to generate electrical power from mechanical deformations, offering …

Analyzing Thermal Expansion in Polymer Composites Through Heat Transfer Simulations
Abstract: Although lightweight and strong, polymer composites require careful handling in environments where temperatures shift. Their usefulness in fields like aviation, vehicle manufacturing, and electronic devices comes from customizable heat behavior alongside favorable mechanical traits. Yet variation in size due to heating or cooling remains a concern hard to dismiss. As conditions change, expansion occurs - sometimes enough to disrupt fit, alignment, or function within complex systems. This response to warmth …

Exploring Composite Materials for Energy Harvesting in Electric Vehicles: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Energy harvesting, an increasingly dynamic field, holds promise for powering various devices by extracting energy from surrounding sources. Composite materials, blending mechanical and electrical properties, emerge as ideal candidates for energy harvesting applications. Despite their burgeoning utilization in electric vehicle (EV) energy capture, the full realization of their potential remains subject to ongoing evaluation. This editorial comprehensively examines composite materials' mechanical properties, electrical conduction, thermal stability, and affordability concerning EV …

Investigation of the Hall and Nernst-Ettingshausen Effects in Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors
Abstract: This review explores the Hall and Nernst-Ettingshausen effects in various magnetic systems, including diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS), topological insulators, superconductors, and novel composite materials. In DMS, the interplay of ferromagnetism and magnetic impurities introduces unique transport behaviors, particularly influencing the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and thermomagnetic phenomena. We also examine the Nernst-Ettingshausen effect (NE) in topological insulators and superconductors, revealing the influence of band topology and vortex-like excitations. Special attention …

Ag₂S–Ag Nanocomposites: A Bottom-Up Approach to Enhance Thermoelectric Power Factor at Near Room Temperature
Abstract: The intrinsic ductility, low toxicity, and naturally occurring abundance of silver sulphide (Ag₂S) have made it a potential thermoelectric material in recent years. However, high electrical resistance severely limits its practical application. Here, we present a thorough analysis of how metallic Ag nanoinclusions affect the structural, electrical, and thermoelectric characteristics of Ag₂S nanocomposites made using a simple bottom-up polyol approach. (Ag₂S)₁₋ₓAgₓ nanocomposites with an Ag content ranging from 0 to …
