Soil Gas Radon Concentration in a Residential Area of Surrey (BC) Canada using LR-115 type II Plastic Detector
Abstract: Soil gas radon concentration measurement studies have been carried out globally to determine the health hazard effects of radon due to its seepage in indoor air of dwellings. It is a useful parameter for geochemical exploration of Uranium and earthquake precursory studies. Most of the countries, including Canada, have designed building codes to reduce the radon entry indoors. The purpose of this study is to determine radon concentration in a …

Structural and Hydrogeological Characterization of the Olkaria Dome Geothermal Field, Lake Naivasha Basin
Abstract: The Olkaria Dome Geothermal Field in the Lake Naivasha Basin is one of Kenya's principal geothermal resource areas, where fluid circulation and reservoir performance are strongly controlled by geological structures and hydrogeological conditions. This study integrates geological, structural, hydrogeological, mineralogical, and soil-gas data to characterize reservoir permeability and fluid flow pathways. Correlation of lithological units with drilling circulation-loss zones identifies highly fractured formations that enhance geothermal fluid movement. Mineralogical mapping …

Understanding the Role of Remote Sensing Techniques in Monitoring Air Quality for Effective Adherence to Environmental Impact Assessment Practices in Nigeria
Abstract: The paper reviews the Nigerian Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act, outlining the established air quality thresholds and emission caps for stationary sources. The standard applies to; common pollutants like sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides; toxic metals such as arsenic, nickel, cadmium and mercury; as well as volatile organic compounds, ammonia, antimony, zinc, formaldehyde and radon. It also describes the major classifications of remote sensing applications, including …

Radon Monitoring in Underground Water of Punjab State and Thermal Springs of Himachal Pradesh
Abstract: The source of Radon gas is generally within the rock strata in the form of an intermediate decay product of the U/Th radioactive series. It migrates from the earth’s crust to atmosphere by diffusion in the aqueous media. Radon monitoring is carried out to study health hazard effects. Scintillometry technique was used for measurement of Radon concentration in groundwater of Gurdaspur district and Parbati valley of HP. Radon concentration values …
