Optimum Mixture Proportioning of Sawdust Ash Blended Sand-Stone Dust Blocks Using Scheffe’s Regression Theory
Abstract: This study carried out an experimental investigation on the compressive strength of sawdust ash blended sand-stone dust block of size 450 x 225 x 150 mm using Scheffe’s (5, 2) regression theory. The compressive strength of sawdust ash blended sand-stone dust blocks obtained based on fifteen trial mix ratios were used to develop the mathematical model while the results of the compressive strength values obtained based on the additional fifteen …

Indigenous Technique of Biochar Production and Effect of Biochar Application on the Geotechnical Properties of the Expansive Soils
Abstract: Expansive soils have been a source of risk to human beings as they causes huge economic loss including damage to buildings, roads and other civil infrastructures because of their low compressive strength and excessive settlement characteristics. One of the available options is to replace such soils before starting any civil engineering construction but looking to huge costs involved in replacement; it is generally not practiced nowadays. Another viable alternative is …

Performance of Sisal Fiber Concrete Using Fly Ash and Silica Fume Enhancements
Abstract: The construction industry has advanced significantly in constructing innovative structures using diverse materials. Various waste materials such as fly ash, sawdust, and residues of natural fibers have been utilized in the construction industry. Addressing these concerns requires exploring low-cost, environmentally friendly, and sustainable materials. This paper aims to investigate mixing silica fume, fly ash, and sisal fiber into concrete to address waste disposal and global warming issues while creating stronger …

Prediction of Mix Ratios for Grade 30 Superplasticized Concrete Using Osadebe’s Regression Model
Abstract: This study developed a model for estimating the compressive strength of grade 30 super-plasticized concrete. The regression model was built using a total of 15 experimental mix ratios. The results of compressive strength at 28 days from the concrete cubes were used for model development. Two cubes (150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm) were produced per mix ratio, totaling 30 cubes for the 15 trial mix ratios. Osadebe’s …

Some Properties of Briquettes Produced from Sawdust and Different Binders using a Fabricated Hydraulic Piston Press
Abstract: AbstractThis paper describes a fabricated briquettes hydraulic piston press and some properties of the briquettes produced from sawdust when it was used. The press consists of three basic components: the main frame, the mold and a hydraulic jack fitted with pressure gauge. The parts are readily available in Nigeria and relatively cheap. The piston press was used to produce briquettes at 120 bar compaction pressure using composite sawdust and different …

An Investigation of Binders for the Production of Biomass Briquettes from Sawdust and Cow Dung Admixture
Abstract: This study explored an investigation on the effect of binders for the production of biomass briquette from saw dust and cow dung admixture for domestic cooking applications. The materials used to investigate the study were sawdust and cow dung was treated, and the sawdust was grind and screened using sieve mesh size into particle size of 2mm. The biomass briquettes were produced by mixing sawdust and cow dung within the …
