Molecular Diversity of Lampito mauritii and Perionyx excavatus Across North Eastern Ghats of Odisha Using RAPD Markers
Abstract: RAPD-PCR technique using 15 RAPD random primers was used to analyze genetic variation of Lampito mauritti and Perionyx excavatus adult worms collected from the agroclimatic zone of North Eastern Ghats of Odisha which includes four different districts. Studies on molecular characterization of L. mauritti and P. excavatus from different geographical locations indicated variation in the molecular profiling. Analysis of genetic diversity was performed using DNA marker systems with RAPD to …

Estimation of Genetic Diversity in Some Species of Meliaceae Family through RAPD Technique
Abstract: Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis has proved to be useful in determining genetic relationship and variation in many plant species, result of RAPD analysis can be used to determine genetic distances and relatedness within or among species, which can then be utilized in construction of phytogenetic. RAPD analysis could also provide useful insights into the phylogenetic relationship. RAPD is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is based on dominant …

Genetic Diversity and Characterization of Ocimum sanctum Collected from Anand, Central Gujarat Region, by PCR-based RAPD Markers
Abstract: Genetic relationships were examined among thirty germplasm accessions belonging to ten Ocimum species using RAPD markers. A very high degree of polymorphism (98.92%) was observed. UPGMA cluster analysis of genetic similarity indices grouped all the accessions into two major clusters corresponding to previously reported botanical sections. Intra-clustering within the two clusters precisely grouped the accessions belonging to one species in onesub-cluster as expected from their genetic background. Results of this …

RAPD–PCR Analysis of An Important Medicinal Plant Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers ex Hook. F. & Thoms Collected from Western Ghats of South India
Abstract: Herbal drug technology is the emerging area in pharmaceutical industries. The molecular-based quality control is need of the hour to find out the adulterant. DNA-based techniques have been widely used for authentication of plant species of medicinal importance. The present study investigates the RAPD-PCR analysis of Tinospora cordifolia using RAPD-PCR techniques between five populations. A total of 44 polymorphic bands were observed. The genetic distance between the population ranged from …

Evaluation of Genetic Variation in Endangered Tree Species of Boswellia serrata with the Help of Genetic Markers
Abstract: Salai (Boswellia serrata) is the most valuable medicinal tree. It has many medicinal properties like anti-inflammatory agent extensively used in ayurvedic formulations for relieving ache and pain, particularly associated with arthritis. In this study, identification of potential pockets of the designated species in different agro-climatic zones of Madhya Pradesh and evaluation of genetic variation with help of RAPD markers of Boswellia serrata is done, so as to produce elite genotype …

Analysis of Genetic Variation in Celastrus paniculatus Willd. among Different Populations of Southern Western Ghats
Abstract: AbstractCelastrus paniculatus Willd. is an important threatened medicinal woody liana native to the Indian subcontinent. It is distributed chiefly in the deciduous forests, up to an altitude of 1800 m. This species is globally distributed from South Asia to Australia. The seed oil of C. paniculatus is used as a brain tonic for enhancing memory. Due to the over exploitation of the plant for its medicinal values, the plant is …

Role of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) in DNA Breaks by Cellular Method: A review article
Abstract: - Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a generally used food additive to enhance flavors. It has been found that though is one of the most common flavoring agents used worldwide, MSG’s accumulation in the body can cause genomic damages. These genomic damages can be identified through various methods such as Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction (RAPD - PCR). Some herbal extracts have medicinal properties that can initiate DNA repair …

A Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation System with Greater Emphasis on Molecular Genetics
Abstract: Bull is known to be half of the herd. As bull contribute large number of progenies to the next generation as compared to females so determining the potential fertility of the bull is much more important than determining the fertility of any individual cow. It becomes critical to study and analyse the breeding potential of a bull before breeding season for getting best out of progeny. Breeding soundness evaluation (BSE) …
