Exploring The Therapeutical Potential Of Pongamia Pinnata For Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1)
Abstract: Objective: Pongamia pinnata (L.), commonly known as Indian beech or pongam tree, is a tropical plant renowned for its medicinal properties in traditional medicine systems. Extracts derived from various parts of Pongamia pinnata have demonstrated antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities. Such attributes make it a compelling candidate for exploring its therapeutic potential against HSV infections. Thymidine kinase is the target protein mostly used in the treatment of HSV1 infections. In …

Predicting Rate Equation for the Synthesis of Octadec-9-Enoic Acid Methyl Esters by the Methanolysis of Pongamia Pinnata Triglycerides Using Sono Reactor
Abstract: In the present work, octadec-9-enoic acid methyl esters are synthesized from pongamia pinnata oil using methanolysis in sono reactor. The rate equation is predicted for the methanolysis reaction. The produced methyl esters from pongamia pinnata oil confirmed to ASTM D6751 standards. Fourier Transform Infrared Analysis and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry were used to characterise the methyl esters. The rate is dependent greatly on methanol concentration, and then on catalyst concentration …

Utilization of Bentonite Clay Coupled with Potash for the Synthesis of Octadec-9-Enoic Acid Methyl Esters of Pongamia Pinnatatriglycerides
Abstract: Due to the ever increasing human population worldwide, especially in the developing countries across the world; renewable energy sources are in the primary focus of the scientists and researchers. In addition, the depletion of the reserves of the fossil fuels along with the increased consumption of the available reserves has led to wide spread global unrest. Complementing the above, there are significant environmental problems namely global warming due to increased …

An in-silico toxicity study of the phytocompounds found in Pongamia pinnata leaves using the ProTox-II web server
Abstract: The aim of the current study was to determine the Insilco toxicity of the phytocompound present in the leaves of Pongamia pinnata. The leaves of Pongamia pinnata have long been used in traditional medicine for their therapeutic properties. Nowadays, herbal toxicity is a common problem caused by incorrect dosage. The FDA reviews the safety and effectiveness of herbal products only in response to patient or health care provider complaints—problems with …

Synthesis of a Re-Usable HCl Treated Graphite Catalyst for Biodiesel Production from Pongamia Pinnata Oil and DMC
Abstract: AbstractThe aim of this research was to investigate the biodiesel from Pongamia pinnata oil with HCl treated graphite catalyst via transesterification. New biodiesel formation process was designed using P. pinnata oil and HCl treated graphite catalyst. Graphite powder was treated with HCl and HCl treated graphite was used as a catalyst. 95% biodiesel yield was obtained with operating conditions, including P. pinnata oil to dimethyl carbonate ratio (1:3), catalyst concentration …

Antibacterial Activity of Pongamia pinnata Leaf and Callus Extracts against Microorganisms Causing Periodontal Diseases
Abstract: Some specific microorganisms have been identified as etiologic agents of periodontitis. The main goal of treatment is to control the spread of infection. Depending on the extent of the gum disease, treatment varies. Therapeutic antibiotic along with surgery are the most opted form of treatment. But, due to high costs of antibiotics, the disastrous side effects and emergence of multi drug resistant strains of these pathogenic bacteria, a safe alternative …

Studies on Oil Extraction from Pongamia Seeds using Mechanical Expeller and Microwave Heating Technique
Abstract: The extraction of oil from seeds is carried out traditionally by using mechanical expeller. In this study, four configurations of oil extraction systems, namely, single screw, modified single screw, twin screw and microwave assisted oil extraction have been evaluated for oil yield and production or through put rate. Pongamia pinnata seeds have been used as the reference raw materials for this study, both in whole seed form and in crushed …

Performance Evaluation of Diesel Engine Fuelled with Karanja Biodiesel
Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of diesel engine fuelled with karanja (Pongamia pinnata) based biodiesel (B100). A single cylinder, air-cooled, constant speed (1500 rpm) direct injection diesel engine was operated with diesel and karanja based biodiesel (B100). The results indicate that biodiesel fuelled engine has lower Brake Thermal efficiency (BTE), whereas the Break Specific Energy Consumption (BSEC) is higher. The Air-fuel ratio and exhaust temperature …
