Marine Algal Microfiber and Agro-Waste Reinforced Crosslinked Polymer Composites for Sustainable Coastal Materials
Abstract: Crosslinked bio-polymer composites reinforced with marine algal microfibers and agro-waste fillers were fabricated and systematically characterized for sustainable coastal applications. Mechanical testing revealed that tensile strength increased from 18.5 MPa for neat polymer to 25.1 MPa at 20 wt.% reinforcement (~35% improvement), while the flexural modulus improved from 0.72 GPa to 1.02 GPa (~42% increase). Crosslinked Starch Polymer for Coating on Fruit/Vegetable for Preservation Derived from Waste De-Oiled Soybean Cake
Abstract: Cross-linked starch films have been prepared by reacting starch extracted from de-oiled soybean cake (waste material from oil industry) with bio-based acids citric acid and tartaric acid. Polymer–Gel Composite Phase Change Materials: A Functional Polymer Composite Approach for Solar-Thermal Energy Storage in Building Facades
Abstract: This study investigates polymer–composite phase change materials (PCMs) in the form of polymer–gel hybrids as multifunctional systems for solar–thermal energy storage in building façades. Paraffin- and PEG-based PCMs were embedded into polyurethane and acrylic gel matrices to create shape-stabilized polymer–composites with high PCM loading (70–80 wt%).
