Potential of Duckweed (Lemna minor) for Removal of Lead from Wastewater by Phytoremediation
Abstract: This investigation was undertaken to study lead (Pb) uptake by small free floating aquatic plant Lemna minor from wastewater polluted with heavy metals. Metal accumulation process was affected by various parameters such as different pH, temperature and concentration of Pb solution. Total chlorophyll content in Lemna minor was adversely affected which was dependent on Pb concentrations. The plant was adversely affected by pH 6 more than by pH 7 or …

Phytoremediation of Aquaculture Wastewater: Duckweed (Lemna minor L.) as a Phytoremediator
Abstract: Aquaculture systems discharge huge quantities of waste into the aquatic ecosystem, in the form of excretory products and excess feed. These have grave implications on physicochemical and biological quality of the receiving environment. The study aimed to determine potential of duckweed (Lemna minor L.) for phytoremediation of aquaculture effluent. Hundred grams (100 g) of duckweed was grown in 10 L aquaculture effluent for 7-, 14-, 21-, and 28-day retention period …

Phytoremediation of Water Pollutants using Eichhornia crassipes and Lemna minor
Abstract: Due to the paucity of availability of clean water sources throughout the world over, discharge of industrial wastewater into the receiving water bodies has become a serious threat to the environment because of major source of various contaminants and pollutants. Conventional wastewater technologies are usually time consuming, expensive, less efficient and produce secondary pollutants, therefore, scientists and researchers are trying to overcome this problem with novel methods. Phytoremediation is very …

Study of Hydrophytes in Lakes of Bhadrawati Region, District-Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India
Abstract: Hydrophytes play a crucial role in aquatic ecosystems as good indicators of water pollution. The present survey was carried out from September 2023 to August 2024. During this study period, a total of 25 macrophytes belonging to 4 free-floating species, 7 free-floating suspended submerged species, 05 rooted floating leaves species, 6 rooted submerged species, and 3 rooted emergent species were observed in six lakes (Dhoodhala lake, Lendara lake, Mashanghat [Malhar] …

Detrimental Effect of Mobile Phone Radiation on Living Organisms: An Update Review
Abstract: Mobile phone has raised the risk of the tissue-level damage for all living organisms not only for human and animals but plants as well. Numerous studies have documented various biological effects of EMR including changes in cell proliferation, enzyme activity, gene expression, cell-membrane permeability and ion homeostasis as well as oxidative stress and heat-shock response. A modulated field at 900 MHz strongly inhibited the growth of and, to some extent, …
