Modelling of Large Elasto-plastic Deformations by EFGM
Abstract: Current work reports modelling and simulation of geometric and material nonlinearities arising due large elasto-plastic displacements in structural specimens by invoking enriched element free Galerkin method (EFGM). The displacement approximations are constructed by using moving least square approach. Standard displacement based approximations are modified by incorporating suitable enrichment functions depending on the nature of interfaces present in the components. Large deformations give rise to geometric nonlinearities which have been modelled …

Study on the Rocking Phenomenon of Parachute Rope
Abstract: With the constant development of computer technology and the development of numerical simulation techniques, the simulation of the dynamics of the parachute is becoming increasingly accurate. To eliminate the effects of large deformation of the grid in the conventional parachute simulation, we chose the parachute model using the smooth particle hydrodynamics method and performed a steady-state fluid-solid coupling numerical simulation, which is in good agreement with the calculated gas power …

Dynamic deformation and microstructural characteristics of AA5083 under the influence of electrochemical behaviour using equal channel angular pressing
Abstract: Large-scale Equal channel angular pressing is a great engineering material that has more potential for AA5083 industrial applications. Uniaxial dynamic compressive tests across a temperature of 448 K were conducted for the ECAP technique AA5083 in order to create such a design framework. The microstructure was described using transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscope both before and after dynamic loading. The plastic flow behaviour of the AA5083 was described …

Dielectric Elastomers in Actuation and Energy Applications: Material Behavior and Design Strategies
Abstract: Dielectric elastomers (DEs), a class of electroactive polymers, have attracted significant attention for their ability to undergo large, reversible deformations under electric stimulation. This unique capability makes them highly suitable for a range of actuation and energy harvesting applications, especially in the emerging fields of soft robotics, flexible electronics, artificial muscles, and sustainable power generation systems. DEs offer compelling advantages such as low weight, mechanical flexibility, high energy density, and …

Clinical experience with Ayurvedic Treatment in Case of Rheumatoid Arthritis – Ayurvedic review and Case study
Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis is the most found inflammatory auto immune disease with unknown etiology. Many clinical features and treatment strategies of RA are associated with multiple joint diseases. The clinical phenotype of Rhematoid arthritis is a symmetrical, deformed polyarthritis of small and large joints, which is often associated with features of the disease. The treatment typically involves ongoing management with periods of worsening symptoms followed by periods of improvement. Features of …

Review on Severe Plastic Deformation Techniques for Bulk Materials: Deformation Behavior and Properties
Abstract: This paper presents a detailed review of the efficient application of Severe Plastic Deformation for the fabrication of ultra-fine-grained and nanostructured crystalline bulk materials. Severe Plastic Deformation allows substantial grain refinement while largely preserving the original dimensions of the workpiece, making it especially suitable for ductile materials capable of sustaining very high strains under elevated hydrostatic pressure prior to failure. The study investigates the grain refinement mechanisms involved in Severe …

Performance of GFRP Bars in Flexural Members: A Comparative Study with Metal Bars Using FEA and Experimental Study
Abstract: In recent years, GFRP bars have been introduced as a replacement for metal bars as reinforcement in flexural members. This study evaluates the use of GFRP bars as the main reinforcement in flexural members such as beams through computer simulations and experimental work. A 4-meter beam from a sample structure, analyzed as per IS 875 (1987) Part 2, was considered for the study. This beam was designed considering both metal …

Comprehensive Review of Moebius Syndrome: Clinical Landscape, Etiology, and Therapeutic Challenges
Abstract: Moebius syndrome, a rare congenital neuromuscular disorder, presents with non-progressive facial weakness, limited eye abduction, and diverse manifestations affecting cranial nerves. This comprehensive review explores its clinical landscape, emphasizing the need for extensive investigations into its elusive etiology and genetic underpinnings. The estimated prevalence is 1 in 250,000 live births, with sporadic cases prevailing. Initial symptoms, evident from birth, encompass difficulties in sucking, and feeding, and absent facial expressiveness. Beyond …

Design and Development of Pipe Bending Machine
Abstract: The design and development of a pipe bending machine are crucial for various industrial applications, including the construction, automotive, and manufacturing sectors. Bending is a fundamental metalworking process that involves deforming pipes, tubes, square hollows, and rods without compromising their structural integrity. This study focuses on designing a cost-effective and efficient pipe bending machine that can accommodate different pipe sizes and materials. The key design considerations include selecting an appropriate …

Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation of Parachute by Eulerian-Lagrangian penalty method
Abstract: In general, modeling and simulation of a model consisting of fluid and solid combinations has been considered difficult, and it has become impossible in terms of computer dependencies and accuracy to be analyzed by Fluent or other programs. The parachute evaluation process, which is historically based on a large amount of experimental data, necessitates many falling experiments. These tests can be costly and time-consuming, and they don't always allow for …

Finite Element Modelling of Contact Stresses in Helical Gear Systems
Abstract: Helical gears are widely used in modern power‐transmission systems because of their high load‐carrying capacity, smooth meshing action, and increased overlapping of gear teeth. However, the design of helical gear pairs is constrained by contact stresses generated at the mating tooth surfaces, which can lead to surface fatigue (pitting), micro-cracking, and ultimately gear failure. Traditional analytical methods, such as those of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) or International Organization …

Trussed Bridges
Abstract: Trussed railway bridges offer a unique structural advantage by efficiently distributing the load between the truss members and the girder. In such designs, a significant portion of the load is carried by the truss members, which reduces the stress on the bridge girder itself. As a result, the girder in a trussed bridge can be constructed with a reduced thickness compared to bridges that lack a truss system. This optimization …
