Study The Effect of The Alcoholic and Hot Aqueous Extract of Costus specious on Some Bacterial Species
Abstract: Plant extracts are among the methods that have been used since ancient times in alternative medicine and are still developing until recently with the progress of science and modern technologies. These materials can be used in the composition of many pharmaceutical drugs. The current research aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of alcoholic and hot aqueous extract of the roots of Costus specious on some gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (Enterococcus …

Bacterial Spectral in UTI in a Hospital Environment
Abstract: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) represent a significant public health issue, primarily caused by a variety of pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Staphylococcus saprophyticus. UTIs contribute substantially to illness and complications in individuals with pre-existing health conditions and account for a large portion of hospital visits globally. UTIs are usually self-limiting in people with no structural or functional problems, but they do tend to …

Biological Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Hibiscus Sabdariffa Leaf Extract and It’s Antibacterial Sensitivity Assay
Abstract: In this study, AgNO3 was effectively used to synthesize silver nanoparticles. Hibiscus sabdariffa leaf extract was used to promptly and easily synthesize silver nanoparticles. An UV-Visible spectrophotometer showed absorbance peak in range of 300-600 nm. The procedure was found to be easy to follow, quick, least step and safe for the environment. It is non-toxic, and a viable substitute for traditional physical or chemical procedures. At room temperature, silver ions …

A Screening Study on Occurrence and Distribution of Urinary Tract Infections Among Suspected Cases (Pyuria, With or Without Symptoms) During Pregnancy
Abstract: Background: Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequently seen medical complications in pregnancy. Methods: Ethical approval was granted for this research. The study employed a time-bound prospective design; total pregnant women (900) were categorized into those suspected of having UTI (pyuria, with or without symptoms) and those not suspected. Asymptomatic bacteriuria is diagnosed through a urine specimen with an appropriate microscopic examination, followed by culture. Results: The occurrence …

Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and Metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs): A Review
Abstract: Gram-negative bacteria produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs), enzymes that play a crucial role in antibiotic resistance. These enzymes enable the bacteria to withstand a wide array of beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems. The production of these enzymes, particularly by organisms, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, complicates treatment options for severe infections, leading to increased morbidity and mortality in clinical settings. ESBLs are primarily responsible …

Phytochemical Screening and Biological Activity of Pomegranate Extracts
Abstract: Pomegranates are renowned for their abundance of bioactive compounds that exhibit potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, making them a subject of growing interest in natural medicine. This study aimed to compare the biological activities of ethanolic extracts derived from different parts of the pomegranate plant—specifically, the bark, peel, and leaves. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to evaluate their phytochemical composition and assess their antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. The …

Design, Synthesis, and in vitro Evaluation of Novel Benz/Imidazole-2-acetonitrile Derivatives as Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents
Abstract: Benzimidazole is a pharmaceutically important compound. In this research, we were able to prepare several heterocyclic derivatives from it by first preparing a new azo derivative ZH through a reaction of 3-aminoacetophenone with benzimidazole-2-acetonitrile. This azo derivative was then introduced via a condensation reaction with aromatic amine derivatives, resulting in the preparation of two Schiff base derivatives Z1 and Z2. From these bases, six and seven membered heterocyclic derivatives were …
