Integrated Assessment of Soil Health Through Macronutrient Status and Physico-Chemical Properties in Selected Agricultural Blocks of Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh, India
Abstract: Soil health is a critical determinant of agricultural sustainability, particularly in ecologically sensitive Himalayan regions where intensive cultivation and heterogeneous landscapes influence nutrient dynamics. Balanced macronutrient availability, together with favourable physico-chemical properties, governs crop productivity, soil resilience, and long-term ecosystem functioning. Despite the agronomic importance of Kangra District (Himachal Pradesh), localized assessments integrating nutrient status with physico-chemical indicators across representative agricultural blocks remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate soil …

Climate variability analysis over the state of Himachal Pradesh, India
Abstract: Longterm daily temperature and rainfall data (2000–2024) for thirty-five locations ranging from ~350 to >4000 m amsl were obtained from the NASA POWER database. The variability and trends in maximum, minimum temperature and rainfall were worked out by using different statistical tools and Mann-Kendal test trend analysis. The mean annual maximum temperature of the state was 20.3°C (CV = 3.9%), declining from 27.4°C in the low hills to 7.2°C at …

Quantification of Snow/Glacier Melt Impacts of Historical and Future Climate Change on Eastern Himalayan River
Abstract: Millions of the population on Eastern Himalayan Rivers (EHR) totally depend on, domestic use, agriculture, and hydropower. Several studies found that climate warming threatens this EHR's hydrological regime. In order to understand the hydrologic response of their headwaters and how climate change affects streamflow, a hydrological modeling study is conducted in the Teesta River Basin (TRB) in EHR using an open-source Quantum Geographical Information System (QGIS) with semi-distributed QSWAT1.5 (Soil …

Cause of climate change and issues in uttrakhand
Abstract: Uttarakhand is experiencing a surge in average temperatures and a significant shift in precipitation regime, causing significant changes in the duration, amount, and form of atmospheric precipitation. The region's shorter snowfall season is believed to be responsible for decreased water supply, leading to water scarcity. The shift in plant blossoming and fruiting has also led to a shift in traditional life support activities, resulting in decreased agricultural productivity, increased pest …

Nanotechnology and Nanoparticles for High Altitude Agro-ecosystem and Environmental Sustainability
Abstract: High-altitude agro-ecosystems are widely distributed throughout the world. In the Indian subcontinent, Himalayan region represents the high-altitude ecosystems, which demand extensive management due to their increasing deterioration in recent times. The extremely low temperature, proneness to natural calamities, recurring floods, droughts, low soil moisture and fertility, high solar intensity impose constraints for sustenance of hill agriculture. To enhance crop productivity to sustain increasing population, hill farmers are using excessive amount …

Analysis on Decadal Variation of Reservoir Area and Perimeter with Respect to Rainfall and Population
Abstract: Water is an essential element for the survival and proper functioning of all life forms on Earth. In the state of West Bengal like many other regions groundwater rivers and water canals serve as the primary sources of water. This vital resource is distributed across various sectors including agriculture households and industrial facilities following necessary treatment processes. West Bengal's climate is characterized by a tropical monsoon type in its southern …

Status and Distribution of Major Invasive Plant Species in the Dehradun Region of the Uttarakhand Himalaya
Abstract: Invasive alien plant species are widely recognized as one of the major threats to global biodiversity and ecosystem stability. Their rapid spread and ability to adapt to different environmental conditions allow them to dominate natural habitats and disrupt ecological balance. The present study examines the status and distribution of major invasive plant species in the Dehradun region of Uttarakhand, which is situated in the Himalayan foothills of northern India. Field …

Study of a Western Disturbance of 2023 Using Satellite-Based Observation, Reanalysis Data, and Numerical Simulation
Abstract: Western Disturbances (WDs) are synoptic-scale, extratropical storm systems that influence winter precipitation across northwest India. This study focuses on a specific WD event that occurred from 24– 25 March 2023, affecting Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab. The analysis integrates satellite observations, ERA-5 reanalysis data, and simulations from the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to evaluate the model's performance. The novelty of this study lies in its …
