Allelopathic Effect of Lantana camara L. on Moong Germination
Abstract: Allelopathy is a biological process where plants inhibit the growth and germination of surrounding species. This study examined the allelopathic effects of Lantana camara L. leaf extracts using concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% on Vigna radiata L., compared to a control group. Results showed that L. camara L. extracts significantly inhibited both growth and germination of Vigna radiata L., with increasing effects at higher concentrations. On the 10th …

POTENTIAL BIOPRESERVATIVE EFFECT OF ANTIMICROBIAL PEPTIDES OF SEEDS OF Vigna unguiculata (Cow Pea) ON Hibiscus sabdariffa L. (Roselle) Calyces (Zobo) DRINK
Abstract: Natural and efficient food preservatives are in greater demand because of growing concerns about the safety and quality of processed beverages. Antimicrobial peptides have emerged as promising natural substitutes for synthetic preservatives, boasting advantages like wide-ranging activity and reduced toxicity. In this research, we investigate the inhibitory effects of these peptides against common spoilage microorganisms in 'Zobo' drink. Peptides were extracted and purified from germinated Vigna unguiculata) seeds harvested on …

Saccharomyces Cerevisiae and Pichia Pastoris Optimize NH4NO3 by 50 % in Solanum Lycopersicum Preventing N2O Release.
Abstract: In agriculture, the unregulated application of NH4NO3 for healthy growth of Solanum lycopersicum is associated in the soil with the denitrification of free NO3- (nitrate), with an increase in N2O, a greenhouse gas, that contributes to global warming, loss of soil fertility. An ecological option to avoid denitrification that releases N2O as other environmental problems is to inoculate S. lycopersicum seeds with endophytic yeasts that promote plant growth, such as …

Crosslinked Starch Polymer for Coating on Fruit/Vegetable for Preservation Derived from Waste De-Oiled Soybean Cake
Abstract: Cross-linked starch films have been prepared by reacting starch extracted from de-oiled soybean cake (waste material from oil industry) with bio-based acids citric acid and tartaric acid. The obtained films were characterized by spectroscopic, thermal and surface morphological techniques. Thermal analysis showed that thin film has good thermal stability. The micrographs obtained from scanning electron microscopy showed the film surface has smooth and uniform morphology. Biological properties like cytocompatibility, antimicrobial …

Optimization of Seed Viability Tests for Humulus lupulus
Abstract: The Humulus lupulus member of the Hemp family has been extensively explored for their industrial application in diverse sectors. During the cultivation of this high-cost plant, one of the major concerns associated is low seed germination due to physical dormancy. The role of rigid seed coats in augmenting an impermeable barrier for water and nutrient availability to the seed has been well analyzed in previous studies. However, the associated impact …

Hydroponics Culture Regulated Metabolic Variations in Plants of Medicinal Value
Abstract: The current review chiefly brings to light the importance of alternative cultivation strategies for medicinal plants about the effective enhancement of the bioactive substances. The fast-paced society is favoring the need for its cost-effective cultivation and studying the effects thereafter. The mis-steps while collecting the plant from the wild lead to identification issues, genetic and phenotypic variations, variable bioactive substances/secondary metabolites, and toxic compounds. So, cultivation happening in controlled environments, …
