Predicting Rate Equation for the Synthesis of Octadec-9-Enoic Acid Methyl Esters by the Methanolysis of Pongamia Pinnata Triglycerides Using Sono Reactor
Abstract: In the present work, octadec-9-enoic acid methyl esters are synthesized from pongamia pinnata oil using methanolysis in sono reactor. The rate equation is predicted for the methanolysis reaction. The produced methyl esters from pongamia pinnata oil confirmed to ASTM D6751 standards. Fourier Transform Infrared Analysis and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry were used to characterise the methyl esters. The rate is dependent greatly on methanol concentration, and then on catalyst concentration …

Semiconductor Devices for Assessing Freshness of Food Products
Abstract: Freshness of food is one of the major deterministic factors that govern human health and wellbeing. Consumption of stale food can have minor to serious health implications. In general assessment of the quality of food relies upon human sensory evaluations. However, the perceived intensity of sensory attributes can vary significantly. To replace this confusion, scientists develop portable and inexpensive sensors with notable accuracy. In particular, dairy products, seafood and meat …

Characterization Of Senna Occidentalis (Link.) Seed Extract
Abstract: Senna occidentalis (L.) Link commonly known as "coffee senna" or majamfari/rai dore in Hausa is a plant with a long history of traditional and medicinal uses against diseases such as inflammation, pains, and diabetes. This study presents characterization of the bioactive compounds of the seed extracts. Physicochemical analysis of seed powder was carried out following standard procedures. Qualitative phyto-chemical contents were determined for the presence and absence of major metabolites. …

Production of n-Butanol from Biomass by Two Step Fermentation Process Using Staphylococcus Sciuri
Abstract: This study explores the sustainable production of n-butanol from wheat husk through a two-step bioconversion process. Wheat husk, an abundant agricultural residue, was first fermented into butyric acid using Bacillus subtilis. The resultant butyric acid was then converted into n-butanol using Staphylococcus sciuri. The process leverages biological fermentation to create value-added chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass, offering an eco-friendly alternative to petrochemical methods. Two steps fermentation process were carried to increase …

AI-Assisted Kinetic Modeling of PLA Hydrolysis Under Subcritical Water Conditions for Sustainable Polymer Recycling
Abstract: The accumulation of poly (lactic acid) (PLA) in terrestrial and marine ecosystems has intensified the demand for closed-loop, green recycling technologies. Subcritical water (SCW) hydrolysis offers a promising, catalyst-free pathway for the rapid depolymerization of PLA into its constituent monomer, lactic acid. However, the complex, highly non-linear kinetics governing macro-molecular degradation under variable hydrothermal conditions limit real-time process optimization and industrial scalability. This study develops a novel artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted …

Chemical Profile and Toxicity of Fresh and Dry leaves of the Essential Oils of Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash. From Southwest Nigeria
Abstract: The fresh and dry leaves of Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash (Gramineae) plant was collected, air dried and authenticated at the University of Ibadan Herbarium with voucher number: UIH-23237. The plant's dried, fresh leaves were hydro distilled in a Clevenger device to extract the essential oils. The oils were characterized by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC – MS) while the toxicity of the essential oils was tested using brine shrimps’ lethality assay. …
