Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Process through Miscible Gas Injection: A Case Study of an Iranian Oil Reservoir
Abstract: Speedy computers and development in equations’ numerical solutions have enhanced applying simulation to predict the behavior of oil and gas reservoirs. The pressure in hydrocarbon reservoirs reduces overtime due to utilization of oil and gas resources until the fluid pressure itself is no more able to transfer it to the surface, and even if it reaches to the surface, its production is not cost-effective. Whereas, large amounts of hydrocarbon resources …

Relating IFT with Oil Recovery with Special Reference to Bhogpara Porous Media of Upper Assam Basin
Abstract: The present study examines the effect of surfactant flooding through the porous media of Bhogpara core sample for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). The work will try to examine the interfacial tension (IFT) of the aqueous phase in which a surfactant is added and the oleic phase, which is the paraffin oil. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) was noted at the minimum IFT. The highlight of this work is that with …

Experimental Study on the Impact of Polymer (PAM) in Enhancing Oil Recovery in Upper Assam Basin Oil fields
Abstract: The Upper Assam Basin, one of India’s most mature and extensively exploited hydrocarbon provinces, is experiencing declining oil production due to reservoir depletion and unfavorable crude oil–brine–rock (COBR) interactions. In this context, alkali–polymer (AP) flooding has emerged as a promising chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategy. AP flooding reduces interfacial tension (IFT) through in-situ surfactant generation by alkali and improves sweep efficiency via polymer-based mobility control, typically using polyacrylamide (PAM). …

A Cyclic Injection of High Temperature N2-foam in Fuyv Reservoir
Abstract: Steam stimulation has already been proved as an important thermal recovery technology. In Daqing, the development and management of high-heterogeneous heavy oil reservoirs plays an important role in stabilizing the oil output. To combine the good features of steam injection and cyclic injection, a cyclic steam flooding has been conducted in the Fuyv reservoir, Daqing. This paper is to present a detailed process of the cyclic-steam injection. The target Fuyv …

Synthesis and Characterization of Triethanolamine Derivative of Sodium Dodecy l Sulphate and its Use in Enhanced Oil Recovery
Abstract: The paper deals with the synthesis and characterization of a new surfactant and its use in Alkali-Surfactant- Polymer (ASP) flooding in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). The material has been synthesized from sodium dodecyl sulphate and triethanolamine. The synthesized surfactant has been characterized by measuring the surface tension of its aqueous solution and it has been found that the surface tension of derivative surfactant is much lower than that of pure …

Feasibility Study of using Electric Down-hole Heating to Improve the Productivity for a Heavy Oil Field
Abstract: The largest hydrocarbon reserves around the world are mostly heavy oils. Electrical Down-hole Heating (EDH) is a widely used technique for heavy oil production; when it is combined with Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods, it can overcome its limitations. Considering limited previous studies for the designing of EDH for Sudanese fields, this paper presented the feasibility of using this system by simulating the actual well situation and provided several scenarios …

Bio Solvent EOR: Performance Assessment of Plant Extracts as Asphaltene Inhibitor
Abstract: Changes in pressure and temperature during oil production and transportation most notably during CO2 injection for enhanced recovery could lead to changes in the oil composition and deposition of asphaltene. Deposition of asphaltene near the wellbore region, production tubing and production facilities could cause severe flow assurance problem. Physical removal of asphaltene is costly and in most cases it is not preferred. A more favorable option is to prevent the …
