Integrating Counseling into ESRD Care: Addressing Mental Health to Enhance Patient Outcomes
Abstract: End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), also referred to as Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 (CKD-5), profoundly impacts patients' physical health as well as their emotional and psychological well-being. As individuals approach renal failure, they commonly encounter complex mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, chronic stress, and a markedly diminished quality of life. This study underscores the critical importance of integrating emotional and mental health support into the care of ESRD …

Effect of Radiation Dose, Dose Rate and Annealing Temperature on Edible Potato Starch by Spectroscopic Methods
Abstract: Potato starch (PS) is a favorite food choice in different forms. During its storage and applications the PS is exposed to different radiations. In the present study the authors attempt to compare radiation effects (gamma and Electron beam of same radiation dose) in PS by Electron spin resonance (ESR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) methods. ESR spectra of gamma irradiated PS appeared to have resolved shapes than the electron beam …

Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activity of Mono- and Binuclear Co(II) and Cr(III) Mixed-Ligand Complexes Derived from α-Amino Acid and 1,10- Phenanthroline with 1,3-Diaminopropan as a Spacer
Abstract: Mixed-ligand complexes of Co(II) and Cr(III) ions were synthesized from the reaction of metals chloride salts with α-amino acid (H2L1) as a primary ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (L2) as secondary ligand. The ligand 2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-ylamino)-2-(2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl) acetic acid (H2L1) has been synthesized from the condensation reaction of inobenzothiazol with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde in the presence of HCN as three components–one pot reaction. H2L1 considered as a tridentate chelater of ONO-coordination binding type toward the metals, …

Chronic Kidney Disease: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive condition characterized by a long-term decline in kidney function, leading to a gradual deterioration of the kidneys' ability to filter waste and maintain fluid balance. It is diagnosed when the Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) falls below 60 ml/min/1.73 m² or when there is evidence of kidney damage (such as proteinuria) lasting for 3 months or more. The most common causes of CKD are …

Psychological Profile of Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis and Its Association with Physiological Parameters
Abstract: Background: End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is a chronic, progressive condition requiring maintenance hemodialysis, which imposes substantial physiological, psychological, and social burdens on patients. While physiological indicators are routinely monitored during treatment, the influence of psychological factors on these indicators and patients' quality of life remains inadequately explored, particularly in the Indian context. Objective: To investigate the relationship between psychological variables (depression, anxiety, illness intrusiveness, and quality of life) and physiological …

Immunological and Genetic Markers of Rheumatoid Arthritis Among Women in North India: A Case-Control Study
Abstract: Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease systemically afflicting women marked by chronic inflammation around the involved joints leading to joints destruction. It has both endocrinological and immunological associations as well as genetic associations but data pertaining to women of North India is scanty. Objective: This case-control study was done to evaluate the presence and significance of major immunological and genetic markers of RA in North Indian women with …

Drug Utilisation and Cost Analysis in End-Stage Renal Disease Patients: A Prospective Observational Study
Abstract: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition in which the kidneys are damaged and unable to efficiently remove waste and excess fluid from the blood. Dialysis serves as a treatment for CKD by artificially carrying out the kidney’s filtering functions. This prospective observational cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate drug utilization patterns, economic burden, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing dialysis. Over …

Determining the Root Causes of Complications in Hemodialysis Maintenance Therapy
Abstract: As with peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation, hemodialysis has been considered one of the most effective therapies for the replacement of kidney function. While this helps to save patients with the disease by decreasing morbidity /mortality/ rates, this medication has some side effects. These may manifest during the dialysis process alongside the ongoing treatment. Avoiding these barriers becomes crucial for improving the patients’ prognosis in this context. We are going to …

Targeting Vasopressin 2 Receptor (V2R) in Renal Cystogenesis by Exploring the Nephroprotective Potential of “Terminalia arjuna”
Abstract: Objectives: Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common inherited kidney disorder, leading to the formation of multiple cysts in the kidneys. It is a major cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), which often requires dialysis or a kidney transplant for survival. This research focuses on identifying potential bioactive compounds derived from natural sources that show promise for drug development targeting the V2R gene. Methods: The naturally occurred …

A Study on the Incidence and Prevalence of Cardiovascular Morbidity and Mortality in Patients Undergoing Maintenance Hemodialysis
Abstract: Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is a major complication for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on Hemodialysis (HD), with the mortality rate from CVD being nearly 20 times higher than in the general population. As Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) advances, patients accumulate both traditional and kidney-specific cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, fluid overload, electrolyte imbalances, and uremic toxins. These factors contribute significantly to the increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality …
