Exploration of 5-Hydroxybowdichione Flavonoids As Inhibitors of Dengue Virus Ns5 RNA-Dependent RNA Polymerase Using Molecular Docking Approach
Abstract: Objectives: Human lives are now seriously threatened by dengue fever, which is brought on by the dengue virus (DENV). Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which reproduce in still water, are the primary vectors of the arboviral virus known as dengue. It is well-recognized that phytochemicals have a high potential to eliminate bacterial, viral, and fungal infections in people. Thus, it demonstrates its inhibitory effects on the dengue virus. This study identifies some …

In Silico Identification of Therapeutic Agents for Dengue Virus by Molecular Docking
Abstract: The dengue virus causes serious health issues and a loss of quality of life. Dengue poses a yearly threat to half of the world’s population. The drugs that are based on allopathy are expensive and also exhibit toxic effects on tissues and biological activities. It is also generally accepted that most pharmacologically active drugs, including those derived from medicinal plants, are isolated from natural sources. The present study is directed …

Seroprevalence and Immunity to Dengue Virus Among Women in Punjab: A Public Health Concern
Abstract: Dengue virus (DENV) infection continues to be a public health concern in Punjab, India, where women are at higher risk because of socioeconomic factors. This cross-sectional study sought to assess the DENV seroprevalence, their neutralizing antibody profiles, and the risk factors associated with DENV among a sample of 1,200 women (aged 18–50 years) in Punjab. Serum samples were processed by IgG/IgM ELISA, and plaque reduction neutralization tests (PRNT90) were done …

Genomic Characterization of Emerging Arboviruses in Rural India
Abstract: Arboviruses (arthropod-borne viruses) represent a rapidly evolving group of pathogens responsible for significant morbidity and mortality, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Rural India, characterized by dense vector populations, changing ecological patterns, and limited healthcare infrastructure, has become a hotspot for the emergence and re-emergence of arboviral diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, and more recently, Zika virus infections. Advances in genomic technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), metagenomics, and …

Clinical Profile of Dengue Patients who had a Prior Infection with the Covid 19 Virus in a Tertiary Care Centre
Abstract: This cross-sectional analytical study conducted in a tertiary care center aims to investigate the clinical profile of Dengue virus-infected patients with a prior history of COVID-19 within the last three years. Dengue, a prevalent tropical disease, ranges from mild fever to severe conditions like hemorrhagic fever and shock syndrome. The study utilizes the World Health Organization's 2009 classification for Dengue and delineates the febrile, critical, and recovery phases of infection. …

Japanese Encephalitis and Dengue Fever Co-infection
Abstract: Dengue virus (DENV) and Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) are two significant pathogenic viruses that can cause severe encephalitis. Dengue and Japanese encephalitis are vector-borne illnesses.Arboviruses that are carried by mosquitoes are significant India's causes of death and morbidity The rainy season, when the vector population grows, is when both dengue and Japanese encephalitis transmissions peak. We still don't fully understand how the CNS is involved in dengue and Japanese encephalitis …

Molecular Docking of Cocculus hirsutus Phytocompounds with the Selective DENV Virus Stereotypes
Abstract: Dengue is a tropical disease with a high infection rate worldwide. Though treatments are available for the symptoms, anti-dengue drugs are unavailable. To tackle this issue, the study aims to shortlist the potential phytocompounds from Cocculus hirsutus medicinal plant, prevalent in South and South East Asia. Using molecular docking and ADME analysis, two potential compounds possessing high drug-likeness are identified namely, Sinococuline and Morphinan.

Climate Change and the Spread of Pathogens: Implications for Public Health
Abstract: Climate change plays a significant role in the spread of infectious diseases by shifting how pathogens behave, affecting how vulnerable hosts are, and changing the way diseases are transmitted.Rising global temperatures, changing precipitation levels, and extreme weather events are accelerating the spread of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, increasing the risk of outbreaks worldwide. Warmer conditions favor the survival and expansion of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and Zika …

Zika Virus: Long-term Effects and Vaccine Development Efforts
Abstract: Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that gained international concern following the 2015-2016 outbreak in the Americas. Although most ZIKV infections are asymptomatic or mild, the virus presents significant public health risks due to its ability to cause severe neurological complications, especially in pregnant women and their offspring.Congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS) encompasses a range of fetal abnormalities, including microcephaly, vision impairment, hearing loss, and developmental delays. Infants exposed to …
