Evaluation of Mechanical Property and Optimization of the Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Carbon Black-Alumina-Epoxy-Glass Composite by using Design of Experiments
Abstract: The research work is mainly focused on investigating the effects of wear parameters: filler content (0%, 4% CB, 4% Al2O3,and 2% CB + 2% Al2O3), applied load (4.905, 9.810, 14.710, and 19.62 N), sliding distance (20, 30, 40, and 50 mm) by using Design of Experiments (DOEs) approach. The experimental results were analyzed using MINITAB V16 scientific graphical and data analysis software. Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratio, analysis of variance (ANOVA) proved …

Carbon Nanoparticles: Occupational Exposure and Genotoxic Effects
Abstract: The field of nanotechnology is revolutionizing today’s era by being the fastest emerging field. Though nanotechnology is the boon to the society, the potential toxicity of these nanoparticles should not be ignored as they can affect anyone from microbes to humans. The main focus of this paper is the toxicity of nanoparticles because people working in these areas, prone to nanoparticles are at high risk due to its toxic property. …

Composite Gel-Fibers and Solid-State-Processed Tapes Based on Disentangled Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and Electrically Conductive Carbon Black: a Comparative Study
Abstract: In this study, oriented nanocomposite gel-spun fibers and solid-state-processed tapes were manufactured and analyzed. The fibers and tapes were produced using a specific type of nascent disentangled ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) reactor powder. As the filler, commercially available electrically conductive carbon black (CB) was used. The ultra-high filler content values up to 75 wt.% were achieved for the UHMWPE/CB gel-spun fibers, while the degree of filling was limited (up …

Parametric Study of Twin Screw Extrusion for Processing Epoxy/Carbon Black Nanocomposites Using Orthogonal Array Technique
Abstract: AbstractThis paper presents the experimental investigation of the influence of process parameters of twin screw extrusion on the dispersion and electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of epoxy/CB nanocomposites. Four factors, namely, loading level of carbon black (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 wt%) in epoxy, screw speed (75, 100 and 125 rpm), temperature (5 °, 15 ° and 30 °C) and number of passes (5, 10 and 15) were …
