Elemental Mobility and Provenance in Sediments: A Geochemical Study of Deccan Basalts, Bay of Bengal, and Northern China
Abstract: Twenty-eight sediment samples from seventeen rivers, including the Krishna headwaters and the west-flowing Western Ghat rivers, draining the Deccan Trap basalts, were analyzed for major elements (Na, Ca, Mg, K, Al, Ti, Fe) and trace elements (Sr, Ba, Mn, P, V, Cr, Ni, Cu, and Zn). The mobility of these elements, especially Na, Ca, Mg, and Sr, was assessed by comparing their abundances in sediments and dissolved phases. Approximately 60% …

Seasonal Variation in the Weibull Parameters from In Situ Measurements and Model: A Case Study in the Bay of Bengal
Abstract: Seasonal variation of wind speed (U10) and its distribution are essential for the design of wind energy converters (WEC). In this study, year-round wind speed observations from a deepwater moored buoy at a location in the Bay of Bengal are used to assess the potential for wind power generation and are used to validate the ERA5 model. Model-U10 distribution is confined to low wind speeds with high occurrence in the …

Role of Satellite Data Assimilation on ERA-Interim and ERA5 Wave Parameter Ratios – A Case Study based on Year-long In-Situ Observations in the Bay of Bengal
Abstract: The rapid decline in the energy resources forced mankind to tap other forms of natural energy resources in the light of exponential increase in the demand due to over-population. The energy from ocean waves is one of the cleanest sources of energy available perennially that changes seasonally and is site-specific. To assess the wave power potential at any site, knowledge of the wave parameters such as wave height, period and …

Marine Spatial Planning: Implementation of Plans and Strategies in Perspective of Bangladesh
Abstract: Marine spatial planning (MSP) is an internationally recognized planning tool used in coastal countries to utilize information about a particular maritime zone, its resources, and its uses and to develop a comprehensive ocean management system. It is a pragmatic and integrated process to protect the environment when human operations are held at spatial and temporal levels and increase sustainability in marine resources' uses. After two victories with two neighboring countries, …

Cucumis Sativus: A Review
Abstract: The family Cucurbitaceae includes the cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). 30 species of Cucumis are distributed in Africa and Asia. One of the first vegetables to be farmed, cucumbers are native to the tropics. It has almost 3,000 years of historical documentation (Yawalkar, 1985). Widespread cultivation of Cucumis sativus (CS) is found in Bangladesh (including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Gazipur, Sherpur, Cox's Bazar, Tangail, and other forests), the Indian subcontinent, and …
