Pore Distributions in Porous Anodic Aluminum Oxide (PAAO) Surfaces of Pure and Commercial Aluminum Substrates
Abstract: Porous anodic aluminum oxide (PAAO) surfaces were developed on pure aluminum (PA) and commercial aluminum (CA) substrates by anodization as a function of voltage in phosphoric acid bath at 278 K and were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The interpore distances were plotted in the form of frequency histograms to examine pore-ordering characteristics. Self-ordered porous structures have been obtained at 200 and 160 V for PA and CA substrates respectively …

H2 Production by Methanol Steam Reforming over Copper Impregnated Anodized Aluminum Oxide (AAO)
Abstract: Hydrogen production by methanol steam reforming (MSR) is easy and simple as compared to other reforming methods using fossil fuels such as methane steam reforming. The catalysts for MSR are well developed and available commercially. When constructing a small or micro reformer, the catalyst often needs to be coated on the wall of the metal substrate. In this case, the bonding between the metal surface and the catalyst layer must …

Polymer and Polymer-Metallic Reflective Materials for Solar Thermal Applications: A review
Abstract: Reflective materials play a critical role in determining the optical and thermal performance of solar thermal systems by controlling the concentration and utilization of incident solar radiation. This review examines the application and performance of polymer-based and polymer-metallic reflective materials for solar thermal applications, with particular emphasis on their suitability for solar cookers and concentrating solar technologies. Four commonly used reflector materials—aluminum foil, anodized aluminum, Mylar (metallized polyester film), and …

Optimisation of Electrocoagulation Flocculation Treatment of Laundry Greywater with Design of Experiment Methodology
Abstract: It is becoming increasingly more important to relook at the impact that greywater has on the environment and the opportunities that it can provide for water re-use. More especially that the sewer pipelines are often over flooded and overflowing onto the streets in most townships in South Africa due to sewer blockages, population, and wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) overcapacity. To cope with current and future wastewater treatment (WWT) demands, developments …

Aluminum and its Alloys to Recover from Corrosive Weather
Abstract: Corrosion is defined as deterioration of material, usually metal, because of reaction with its environment and which requires presence of an anode, a cathode, an electrolyte and an electrical circuit. Aluminum and its alloys are reactive to weather of exposure, e.g. ambient, acid and alkalis. Solid to pigments are prevented from corrosion by using inhibitors. Organic inhibitors are ever praised due to non-toxic performances. Basic processes are surface adsorption to …

Inhibitors for 2000 series from aluminum
Abstract: Corosion inhibitor is traditional procedure to protect under any weather. Use of inhibitors have formed thin coating film as well film having hydrofobic to super hydrophobic properties. Angle of contact for weather chemical is simplest test appeared to depend on stabilization of surface under interest. Inihibitor considerations have appeared from hybrid toxic-nontoxic to purely green inhibitors to reproduce as environmentally friendly usage. Inhibitors applicable during anodization has technical importance from …

Enhancement of Electrical Conductivity of Laterite Derived Ferric Oxide to Facilitate As Anode Materials
Abstract: Laterite is a mineral abundant in ferric oxide and various impurities, including aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide. The extraction of ferric oxide from laterite is accomplished through a cost-effective leaching process employing HCl, NaOH, and Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Characterization using Xray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the synthesized particles to be α-Hematite nano particles, with an average particle size of 94.21 nm, predominantly falling within the range of 90 nm to …

Investigating the effect of Anodes workfunction on the Opto-electronics Performance of Organic Light Emitting Diode
Abstract: The research aims to assess the performance of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by exploring how various anode materials affect their optoelectronic properties. OLEDs are crucial for modern displays and lighting, and their efficiency and functionality are heavily influenced by the materials used in their design. This study examines four different anode materials: Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), Zinc Oxide (ZnO), Aluminum-doped Zinc Oxide (AZO), and Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Polystyrene Sulfonate (PEDOT: PSS). These materials …

Influence of Mechanical Parameters on Corrosion Behavior of Metal Coupons in Simulated Environmental Conditions
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of mechanical parameters—namely applied stress, surface roughness, and deformation history—on the corrosion behavior of metal coupons exposed to corrosive environments. Mild steel and aluminum alloy specimens were prepared with controlled variations in tensile stress, polishing grades, and cold-working levels to simulate real-world mechanical influences. These coupons were immersed in a 3.5% NaCl solution under ambient conditions, and their corrosion rates were monitored over a 30-day …
