Biochemical and Kinetic Investigations of Partially Purified Thermostable Acid Phosphatases from Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium
Abstract: Biochemical and kinetic properties of partially purified thermostable acid phosphatases from Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium involving ammonium sulphate fractionation have been investigated. The maximum specific activity in Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium was found in 40–80% (ACP I) and 0–40% (ACP II) fractions, respectively. The specific activities of ACP I and ACP II were 46.01 and 48.00 units mg − 1 with Km values of 1.00 and 2.50 mM, …

Histochemical Localization of Acid Phosphatase in the Haustoria of Two Stem Parasites Cassytha Filiformis L. (Lauraceae) and Cuscuta Reflexa Roxb. (Cuscutaceae)
Abstract: Abstract Acid phosphatases consist of a group of non-specific enzymes that hydrolyse a variety of organic esters with the liberation of phosphate ions. Sodium α-naphthol phosphate substrate is used to localise acid phosphatase activity. The activity of this enzyme was greatest at the sites of haustorial entry and in the region of the hausorial contact with the host vasculature. The presence of this enzyme at the region of interface indicates …

Effects of Plasticizer DI-(2 Ethylhexyl) Phthalate on Liver Enzymes of Adult Male Albino Rats
Abstract: AbstractDi-(2 Ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) is a common plasticizer used to make the plastic products more flexible. It is quite harmful as tested on other animal models and is carcinogenic too. The liver is the major organ for detoxification in body and is therefore affected first due to intake of any toxicant. The liver enzymes are good parameter to assess any such hepatic damage. In the present study, the acute toxicity …

Status of Phosphatases in Basella alba L. Leaves During Water Stress
Abstract: Activity of acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase in the leaves of medicinally important plant Basella alba with respect to its two cultivars under water deficit and water logging stress was estimated. It was recorded that the activity of both the phosphatases increased with increase in water stresses with single exception. The increased activities probably help in release of inorganic phosphates at intracellular level that might regulate proper plant metabolism which …

Protein-Tyrosine Phosphatase-1B (PTP-1B) Inhibitory Perspectives of Hydroxylated Chalcones: Exploration through Docking Studies
Abstract: The current research emphasized on exploring the Protein-Tyrosine Phosphatase-1 B (PTP-1B) inhibitory potentials of hydroxylated chalcone derivatives against PDB ID: 4I8N (PTP-1B in complex with an inhibitor [(4-{(2s)-2-(1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl)-2-[(4-fluorophenyl)sulfamoyl]ethyl}phenyl)amino](oxo)acetic acid) by molecular docking approach using the iGEMDOCK (Genetic Evolutionary Method for Molecular Docking) software. The current molecular docking analysis of some hydroxylated chalcone derivatives have presented a profound inhibition of the antidiabetic target PTP-1B by interacting with the amino acid residues …

Targeting PTPN22 in Arthritis: Molecular Docking and Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of Artemisia vestita Compounds
Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-term autoimmune condition characterized by inflammation of the synovial membrane, commonly resulting in swelling, pain, stiffness, and overall fatigue. Protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 22 (PTPN22) has been identified as a risk factor linked to various autoimmune diseases, including RA. In the PTPN22 gene, two missense Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are associated with autoimmune conditions. The R620W (C1858T, rs247660) variant in exon 14 has been …

Ameliorating Effect of Vitamin C on Acid Orange 7 Induced Oxidative Stress in the Gill of the Fish, Anabas testudineus (Bloch, 1792)
Abstract: Acid orange 7, an azo dye, was exposed to Anabas testudineus at a sublethal concentration (0.27 g/l) for 24, 72 and 96 h in order to evaluate the antioxidant status in the gill tissue. In addition, vitamin C at 0.55 g/l was exposed for 7 days after the dye exposure. Acid orange 7 decreased the body weight of fish, whereas mucous deposition increased significantly as the first line of defensive …

Biopolymer-Based 3D Composite Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Engineering: Photothermal-Responsive Systems with Controlled Pt (IV) Prodrug Release
Abstract: Biopolymer-based composite scaffolds have attracted significant attention as multifunctional platforms at the intersection of polymer science, regenerative medicine, and cancer nanotherapy. In this study, a dual-functional scaffold was developed for simultaneous osteosarcoma treatment and bone regeneration using poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) reinforced with bioactive glass (BG) and integrated with a glutathione-responsive platinum (IV) prodrug system (PDA@Pt). To improve interfacial adhesion, photothermal conversion efficiency, and tumor-specific activation, the Pt (IV) prodrug …
