Plastic Pollution from River to Ocean: A Comprehensive Review in Indian Scenario
Abstract: Plastic represents a substantial environmental hazard, contributing to contamination of terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric ecosystems. This category comprises a diverse range of polymers. In the formof microplastics and nanoplastics, it can induce toxicity in water bodies. Plastic debris not onlyphysically pollutes freshwater, but also chemically, undergoing changes over time due to hydroclimaticeffects. Rivers serve as conduits, transporting plastics from minor tributaries to major rivers andultimately into the ocean, endangering marine life. …

Water Pollution: Its Impact on the Human Health: Causes and Preventions
Abstract: In India, water pollution is a big issue. This problem has gotten much worse in recent years as India has become more industrialized and urbanized. Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies; it occurs when pollutants are dumped into water bodies, either directly or indirectly, without proper treatment to remove dangerous substances. Any chemical, physical, or biological change in the quality of water that has a deleterious effect on …

rbcL Gene Based Molecular Phylogenetic Studies of Certain Pteridophytes of Assam
Abstract: About 16 species of pteridophytes found in Assam (India), were selected and their variation in chloroplast rbcL gene sequences were studied. Molecular phylogenetic analysis was performed using rbcL gene sequences where a bryophyte, Funaria hygrometrica was taken as outgroup sequence. The result showed that the outgroup Funaria hygrometrica forms a totally separate branching from rest of the pteridophytic species. On the other hand, aquatic pteridophytes, Marsilea minuta and Azolla pinnata …

Comparative Study on Bioremediation for Oil Spills Using Microbes
Abstract: This research work was designed to compare and evaluate the capacity of microbes in bioremediating and biodegrading of hydrocarbons which are the major constituents of petroleum oil. An oil spill is a leakage from ocean-going tankers, pipelines or other oil sources. Bioremediation for oil spills is a technique that uses microbes to eliminate contamination of hydrocarbons from water and soil, thereby making them safe for aquatic and terrestrial species. Bioremediation …
