Comparative Effectiveness of Surgical and Nonsurgical Management for Patients with Single Level Lumbar Disc Herniation in terms of Symptom Severity and Quality of Life
Abstract: Background: Sciatica is one of the most severe forms of low back pain, with a lifetime prevalence of approximately 30 percent. Aim: To assess the short-term and long-term efficacy of surgical and conservative care in the incidence of sciatic symptoms and quality of life in standard clinical settings among patients with lumbar disc herniation. Material and Method: It was a retrospective study conducted at the Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi, India. …

Production, Characterization and Toxicological Evaluation of Eco-Friendly Flavolipid Biosurfactant
Abstract: At present majority of surfactants are chemically synthesized. Nevertheless, in recent years, much attention has been directed towards biosurfactants due to their broad range of functional properties, there are cheaper as they can be produced from alternative sources. They have applications in the fields, such as: oil recovery process, as an additive in food processing industry, pharmaceuticals preparations, energy saving technologies etc. As they are being microbial derivatives, it is …

An Experimental Study on the Fabrication and Mechanical Properties of Natural Fiber Reinforced Polymer Hybrid Composites
Abstract: Natural fiber-reinforced polymer composites are increasingly investigated as lower-impact alternatives to conventional synthetic fiber systems. This work fabricated and mechanically characterized a sisal-coconut coir fiber-reinforced epoxy hybrid composite and compared its performance with a glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) epoxy composite under the reported laboratory conditions. The hybrid reinforcement contained 75% sisal fiber and 25% coconut coir fiber and was incorporated into an epoxy LY556/HY951 matrix by the hand lay-up technique. …

An Aggregate-Breakage Percolation Model and ANN-Based Internal Validation for Curvature-Dependent Electrical Conductivity of MWCNT/TPU Nanocomposites
Abstract: Strain-dependent percolation models are mostly built and tested for uniaxial tension, yet many flexible sensors and stretchable devices work mainly in bending, where the outer fibre is stretched, the inner fibre is compressed and the strain changes with thickness. This study extends an aggregate-breakage percolation model, originally formulated for uniaxial strain, to through-thickness bending of a multi-walled carbon nanotube/thermoplastic polyurethane (MWCNT/TPU) nanocomposite. The local strain is taken as ε(y) = …
