Estimation of PVT Properties and Vapor Pressure of CHON Based Extractants for Nuclear Solvent Extraction
Abstract: CHON amides like N, N′-Di hexyl octanamide (DHOA) and N, N′-Di octyl hexanamide (DOHA) have been identified as the alternate extractants to TBP for nuclear solvent extraction. Critical properties of these amidic solvents are needed for the estimation of various physical properties. Currently, there is little information in the literature about critical properties for these solvents. For these two extractants, critical properties and boiling point were estimated using group contribution …

PBE-based Drop Dynamics Simulation in an Unbaffled Stirred Tank Reactor
Abstract: The population balance equation (PBE)-based model describes the distribution of drop size with respective to its size. In this work, 30% TBP was dispersed in 4N nitric acid solution by turbine impeller. Drop-size distributions were measured with a 630 nm laser-based particle size analyzer. For daughter drop density function, a normal distribution function was considered. For breakage rate, Voigt model of Chen et al. was used in the simulation [1]. …

Farmers’ Knowledge on Cucurbits Fruit Fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae, Conquillet) and their Management at Lamjung District
Abstract: Cucurbit fruit fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae) is major problem of cucurbit vegetables. A random survey was conducted among 60 respondents of semi-commercial and commercial cucurbit vegetable growers in Lamjung district from January to February 2018. Semi-structured questionnaire designed in open and closed-ended questions which were used to assess farmer’s knowledge on cucurbit fruit fly and their management practices. The result revealed that 65% respondents prefer to grow cucumber. Similarly, 81% of …

Effect of Vidarikand (Extracts) on Oxidative Stability of Ghee: A Comparative Study
Abstract: Antioxidant activities of vidarikand (Pueraria tuberosa) extracts were evaluated and compared with BHA, TBHQ, rosemary and green tea using a β-carotene bleaching assay, a 2, 2-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and the Rancimat method. Phenolic content and antioxidant activity (β-carotene–linoleic acid model system and DPPH assay) of ethanolic extract of vidarikand was more compared to its aqueous extract. Ethanolic extract of the vidarikand was more effective in preventing the development of the …

Nephroprotective Effect of Exogenous Melatonin and Plant Extract of Costus Igneous Nak
Abstract: Present study was designed to evaluate the nephroprotective effect of exogenous melatonin and insulin plant extract against diabetic induced renal alterations. Diabetic rat model was developed by intraperitoneal treatment of STZ to adult female rat (15 mg/kg) for continuous 6 days. Diabetes was confirmed by checking the blood glucose level. Following confirmation and successful induction, rats were randomly divided into six different groups group viz. group-I (control), group-II (Diabetic control), …

Chemical Constituents and Tyrosinase Inhibitory Activity of Ethyl Acetate Extract of the Leaves of Morus alba L. from Vietnam
Abstract: AbstractFour compounds (DB1–4) were isolated from the Mulberry leaves (Morus alba L.) collected in Thai Nguyen province by chromatographic methods. These compounds were identified as: Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (DB1), quercetin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (DB2), isofraxidin-7-O-β -D-glucopyranoside (DB3), and (±) -3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 4’-hexahydroxyflavane (DB4). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Compound DB4 was isolated from Mulberry leaves for the first time. Compound …

Evaluation of Antioxidant Activity of Coumarin Isolated from Eupatorium triplinerve
Abstract: Eupatorium triplinerve (Asteraceae) is a slender herb with narrow lanceolate leaves. Extract of the plant is used as antiseptic, and in the treatment of various ulcers and haemorrhages. Ayapana is a rich source of naturally occurring coumarin chemicals. Coumarins are chemical compounds found in many plants and which usually have a sweet scent—much like newly-mown hay. Coumarin has clinical value as the precursor for several anticoagulant drugs; most notably, one …
