Biochemical and Biophysical Studies of the Dimerization Process of HIV-RNA Genome
Abstract: HIV infection is correlated with the dimerization of retroviral RNA genomes.Retroviruses are the only known group of viruses that contain two identical (or nearly identical) copies of the RNA genome within the virion. These RNA genomes are non-covalently joined together through a process known as genomic RNA dimerization. Uniquely, the RNA dimerization of the retroviral genome is of crucial importance for efficient retroviral replication. RNA dimerization is the non-covalent process …

Extraction of Retinal Features in Fundus Images for Glaucoma Diagnosis
Abstract: Glaucoma is a major cause for blindness, identified early by the structural changes of optic nerve head in the retina. Retinal image analysis is emerging as an important screening tool for prior detection of eye diseases. Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease in which damage to the optic nerve leads to progressive, irreversible vision loss and it is considered as second leading cause for blindness worldwide. In this research work, …

Canker-induced Shifts in Microbial Diversity for Antagonist Mediated Disease Management: A Mini-review
Abstract: Citrus canker is a major bacterial disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis subsp. citri in acid group of citrus fruits, causing host plant microbiome to undergo structural-to-functional changes in rhizosphere, endosphere and phyllosphere. The paucity of research breakthroughs on these lines makes such elusive and equally complex issue, still clueless to researchers, unless a renewed thought is given to shift our focus from microbe specific function to plant microbiome in response …

Disease Resistant Plants: a Review
Abstract: Modern agriculture provides sufficient nutrients to feed the world’s growing population, which is expected to increase from 7.3 billion in 2015 to at least 9.8 billion by 2050. The disease-resistant plants were made to reduce crop loss caused by diseases. Disease-resistant plants offer an effective, safe, and also an inexpensive method to control many diseases. Most of the commercial varieties of crops are resistant to several pathogens. Resistant or immune …

Different Weeds Management Practices Adopted by Growers under Different Cropping System in Punjab, Pakistan
Abstract: Weeds are major constraint to low production and are responsible for considerable yield loses in field crops. Weeds are hardy and vigorous in growth habits consume the large amount of water and nutrients causing high losses in production. Different physical, chemical and biological methods are being used in Punjab for the control of weeds. In physical control method manual or mechanical power are used to remove the weeds depending on …

Acute Toxicity and Behavioral Alterations of Oligochaete Worm, Branchiura sowerbyi Exposed to Diazinon
Abstract: In the present study, acute toxicity of the organophosphate pesticide, diazinon, was evaluated under experimental condition to Oligochaete worm, Branchiura sowerbyi. The 96 h LC50 with 95% confidence limits of B. sowerbyi was 2.87 (2.50–3.17) mg/l. None of the unexposed control worm died during the experiment. Mortality rate between each dose and mortality rate between 24–96 h depending on time was correlated. The mortality rate also varied significantly (p<0.05) with …

Bayesian Analysis of Operating Characteristic Curves of Single Sampling Plans by Attributes under Mixture of Two Binomial Distributions
Abstract: In the current scenario, manufacturing of products in single stream is not enough to meet the needs of consumers and in order to increase the production, two or more streams are required and the lots are formed from various streams. The production unit differs due to input raw materials, machineries, manpower and management, there may be inherent variation among the quality of the products manufactured from different streams. In this …

Designing Reliability Single Sampling Plans based on Exponentiated Rayleigh Distribution
Abstract: Reliability sampling plans are used in manufacturing industries to take decision on the disposition of lots of finished products based on the information obtained from concerned life test. Among various schemes, hybrid censoring scheme is applied with an objective of saving both time and cost of inspecting the products simultaneously. Parameters of the reliability sampling plans under hybrid censoring scheme are determined corresponding to the lifetime distribution. Exponential, Weibull, Rayleigh …

HDAC and HDAC Inhibitors: Implication in Different Pathological Ailments
Abstract: Histone deacetylases (HDAC) and its inhibitors have been found implicated in various diseased conditions. HDACs regulate the histone tail, chromatin conformation, protein-DNA interaction, and even transcription. They have also been found to regulate the post translational modifications through deacetylation of proteins, and hence are involved in many pathophysiological conditions. Till date, USFDA has approved vorinostat, romidepsin, panobinostat, and belinostat as HDAC inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. Considering their wide …
