Steam Activated Carbon Material from the Fruit Shells of Sterculia foetida for Energy and Environmental Applications
Abstract: Steam activation of the biochar from Sterculia foetida forms a green route for the synthesis of activated carbon material with high specific surface area (1017 m2/g). The corresponding value with a chemical activating agent (K2CO3) is much lower (596 m2/g). Structural parameters of the activated carbon materials were deduced from XRD studies. Moreover the thermal stability of the activated carbon materials from steam activation is nearly 100°C higher than that …

Remote Controlled Boat for Water Pollution Monitoring
Abstract: The global issue of water quality degradation caused by pollution has become a critical environmental concern. Leaving water unchecked for an extended period make it unfit for human needs and eradicate the entire water ecosystem. Water being considered as a vital element in sustaining living things need to be protected. To address this challenge, novel technological solutions are being devised to effectively monitor and manage water resources. This study introduces …

Understanding the Role of Remote Sensing Techniques in Monitoring Air Quality for Effective Adherence to Environmental Impact Assessment Practices in Nigeria
Abstract: The paper reviews the Nigerian Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act, outlining the established air quality thresholds and emission caps for stationary sources. The standard applies to; common pollutants like sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides; toxic metals such as arsenic, nickel, cadmium and mercury; as well as volatile organic compounds, ammonia, antimony, zinc, formaldehyde and radon. It also describes the major classifications of remote sensing applications, including …

Health Implications of Electromagnetic Wave Exposure
Abstract: From low-frequency radio waves to high-frequency gamma rays, electromagnetic waves have a wide range of effects on human health. This diverse subject includes an extensive spectrum of waves. The non-thermal effects of low-frequency waves, such as microwaves, are not completely understood despite the fact that they predominantly represent thermal dangers, which could potentially lead to tissue heating and damage similar to those caused by heating. High-frequency radiation, such as gamma …
