Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Children: An Overview
Abstract: Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) means when the body makes too many immature blood cells. These cells, called myeloid blasts, can't mature into normal white blood cells. In India, Cancer is the leading cause of mortality among children aged 5 to 14, with roughly 45,000 youngsters diagnosed each year. About 20% of children with leukaemia have this type of cancer. AML develops and gets worse quickly, so early diagnosis is important. …

Angiography
Abstract: The heart is a beating muscular organ that continually pumps blood to the rest of the body. The coronary arteries supply the heart with the necessary oxygen and nutrients it needs to function effectively. Over time, fatty deposits called plaque can build up inside the arteries, clogging the passages and blood flow to the heart can be compromised. Coronary artery disease has reached epidemic proportions in South East Asia especially …

Port Site Metastasis after Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy - Case Report
Abstract: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a gold standard procedure for gall stone disease. Incidence of gall bladder cancer is found in about 0.25-0.3% of patients undergoing cholecystectomy. Patients with a preoperatively undiagnosed adenocarcinoma of the gall bladder in situ have a high incidence of recurrence at the port site. Incidence increases when a gall bladder perforation occurs during its extraction. Incidence is as high about 14%. Here we report a case of …

Carotid Blowout Syndrome after Neck Dissection: How Far We Know?
Abstract: Carotid blowout syndrome (CBS) is one of the most dreaded complications of neck dissection. CBS was once shown to have a high morbidity and mortality rates in all of its three types; however, with recent advancement in the medical field these rates decreased considerably. Surgeons and medical practitioners must have a thorough knowledge about this serious condition and the different ways of managing it. This paper is an overview of …

Recent Progress in Addressing Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis
Abstract: TMJ ankylosis refers to the fusion of the mandibular condyle with the skull's base. Managing this condition is a formidable task due to technical complexities and a high recurrence rate.[1] Addressing temporomandibular ankylosis is a complex endeavor often resulting in reankylosis, relapse, risky complications, and necessitating multiple surgeries. This article introduces a treatment protocol for managing temporomandibular joint ankylosis, emphasizing early intervention using modern treatment approaches." Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis …

Studies on acute toxicity and behavioral responses of Heteropneustes fossilis (Linn.) exposed to Diazinon
Abstract: In the present study, acute toxicity of the organophosphate pesticide, diazinon, was evaluated under experimental condition to adult Heteropneustes fossilis. The 96 h LC50 with 95% confidence limits of Heteropneustes fossilis is 16.56 (14.32- 18.04) mg/l. None of the unexposed control fish died during the experiment. Mortality rate between each dose and mortality rate between 24-96 h depending on time was correlated. In the fish, significant relationship (p<0.05) was recorded …

The Effect of Vitamin C on the Reproductive Functions of Paraquat Intoxicated Male Albino Rats (Rattus norvegicus)
Abstract: Paraquat (PQ) is a bipyridylium herbicide applied around trees in Orchids and between crop rows to control broad-leaved and grassy weeds. Its oxidation results in the formation of superoxides and supernitrite species which causes damage to cellular components. Studies have implicated PQ as one of the pesticides that contributes to the reduction in male reproductive functions in humans and animals during exposure. This study, therefore, determined the antioxidant effect vitamin …

Differential Response by Rotenone on Human Trabecular Meshwork and HeLa Cell Lines
Abstract: Cellular response towards a particular stress condition is dependent on a number of factors including genetic makeup, microenvironmental factors, nutrient availability etc. Cells under same stress condition respond differentially and may exhibit pro-apoptotic or anti-apoptotic behavior. Two quite different cell lines—the cancerous cells of HeLa and the Human Trabecular Meshwork (HTM) cell line with very different microenvironmental requirements behave very differently towards oxidative insult due to rotenone. Study of their …
