Managing Blow-by in Modern Engines: A Comprehensive Review of Crankcase Ventilation Technologies
Abstract: Blow-by in internal combustion (IC) engines occurs when high-pressure combustion gases escape past the piston rings into the crankcase. These gases typically carry oil aerosols, unburned hydrocarbons, and fine particulate matter, which, if not effectively managed, can disrupt lubrication, accelerate component wear, and contribute to harmful emissions. Effective crankcase ventilation is therefore essential not only for ensuring engine durability but also for meeting increasingly stringent emission regulations. This paper examines …

Water Chestnut Stem-Derived Biochar Supported AgNPs/AC-CTS-PVA Composite Gel for Wastewater Treatment and Potent Antibacterial Performance
Abstract: In the present study, green and efficient Ag-NPs functionalized activated carbon/chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol (AgNPs/AC-CTS-PVA) composite gel was successfully synthesized using water chestnut stem-derived biochar for wastewater treatment and antibacterial applications. The composite was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, and TGA analyses, confirming the successful incorporation of crystalline Ag nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix and improved thermal stability. The material was tested regarding the removal of the dye of methylene blue (MB) …

Hybrid Numerical–Artificial Neural Network Study of Chemically Reactive MHD Nanofluid Flow Incorporating Thompson–Troian Slip and Stefan Blowing
Abstract: Boundary layer behaviour in chemically reactive nanoliquid is significantly affected by surface conditions, magnetic fields, heat and mas transfer mechanisms. However, the combined impact of Stefan blowing and nonlinear Thompson–Troian slip under inclined magnetic fields remains mostly unexplored, particularly in mixed convection flows. In this research work, the flow of a chemically reactive nanoliquid over a permeable surface is investigated by considering the Troian slip, inclined magnetic fields, Stefan blowing, …

Electrical Measurements on La-modified Four-Layered Aurivillius Ceramics
Abstract: Bismuth layered structure ferroelectric (BLSF) of Aurivillius family is found to be attractive owing to its scientific and technological point of view. These materials have potential ferroelectric applications owing to the fact of its high Curie temperature, high temperature piezo-devise and ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM), applications. In addition, Bi-modified compounds have shown improved ferroelectric properties. However, the plausible reason for improving ferroelectric properties in Bi-modified is still unclear. The …

Corrosion Testing and Evaluation of Inhibitors Performance
Abstract: Choosing test methods that will analyze specific needs, like film barrier strength that real field settings is essential for the proper evaluation and development of inhibitors. The flowing loop and the bubble test are two examples of the first and second, respectively. Corrosion is measured by gravimetric, electrical noise, alternating-current impedance, potentiodynamic measurement, linear polarization and gravimetric. The inhibitors action can be analyzed in different corrosive environments. Their performance is …

Study the Impact of Corrosive Pollutants on Building Materials Corrosion
Abstract: Reinforced concrete structures (RCS) may be made more resistant to corrosion by using fiber reinforced polymers (FRP). One of the primary concerns with reinforced concrete constructions is corrosion. It causes disintegration in building material components by interactions with salts, acids, and alkalis. Both within and outside of reinforced properties, pollutants and effluents accelerate disbanding. When bio-waste and building materials come into contact, microorganisms and macro organisms, grow and emit acid …

Degradation of Building Materials by Corrosive Pollutants
Abstract: Fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) is used for the corrosion suppression of reinforced concrete structures (RCS). One of the main issues with reinforced concrete constructions is corrosion. It interacts with acids, alkalis and salts to produce disintegration in building materials components. Pollutants and effluents speed up disbanding inside and outside reinforced structures. Bio-wastes come in contact of building materials to develop miro and macro-organism and these organisms release acid substances to …

Crystal Defects and Their Characterization in Modern Materials Science
Abstract: The physical and chemical properties of crystalline solids are fundamentally dictated by deviations from structural perfection, known as crystal defects. From the point-scale vacancies that drive diffusion to the planar boundaries that determine mechanical strength, defects serve as the primary "tuning knobs" in material design. This review provides a comprehensive examination of point, line, and planar defects, exploring their formation energetics and their role in plastic deformation via crystallographic slip. …

Polymer Waste-Derived Activated Carbon from PET for High-Efficiency Supercapacitor Electrodes
Abstract: The exponential increase in plastic waste, particularly Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)—a polymer characterized by its repeating aromatic terephthalate units and ester linkages—has escalated into a global environmental crisis. This study details a low-cost synthesis of porous carbon materials derived from waste PET via pyrolysis followed by chemical activation with calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2). During pyrolysis, the PET polymer chains undergo thermal degradation, where the aromatic rings in the backbone serve as precursors …

Synthesis and Characterization of Sustainable, Low-Cost, Biomass-Derived Carbon Films from Hevea Brasiliensis (Rubber) Wood for Environmentally Friendly Gas Sensors with Enhanced Selectivity and Sensitivity to Polar Vapors and Hazardous Gases
Abstract: Hevea brasiliensis (rubber) wood sawdust was utilized to fabricate carbon gas sensors for detecting 1000 ppm of ethanol, methanol, acetone, carbon dioxide, and ammonia gases. The carbon particles were prepared by phosphoric acid impregnation followed by thermal activation and then fabricated into films on conductive and non-conductive substrates using the doctor blade method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed distinct graphitic features with peaks at the (002) and (100) planes, indicating …
