Marine Microbial Ecology: A Comprehensive Review of Interactions, Symbiosis, and Bioprospecting.
Abstract: Marine microorganisms constitute the largest and most dynamic fraction of Earth's biodiversity, governing vital ecosystem functions ranging from global biogeochemical cycling to host-specific symbiotic associations. This review provides a comprehensive synthesis of the complex interaction networks within marine microbial communities. We first explore the theoretical foundations of microbial niche construction and evolutionary dynamics in the ocean. Subsequent sections dissect micro-scale interactions within the phycosphere, where chemical gradients dictate cross-kingdom mutualisms …

Electrochemical Evaluation of Corrosion Behavior in Industrial Alloys Under Acidic and Marine Conditions
Abstract: Corrosion represents a spontaneous physicochemical transformation in which metals revert to their more stable thermodynamic state, typically oxides, hydroxides, or sulfides, as a result of interaction with environmental elements. Rather than being a simple surface reaction, corrosion is a complex electrochemical phenomenon that significantly influences the durability, reliability, and performance of metallic structures across industrial, marine, and domestic sectors. The consequences extend beyond material degradation, contributing to substantial economic losses, …

Improved Marine Wind Farm Layout
Abstract: This work proposes a new marine wind farm layout. The new configuration is based on the hybridization of alternating lift-force and drag-force wind turbines. Lift-force wind turbines are characterized by a high output power and large dimensions, while drag-force wind turbines have moderate power output and reduced size. The proposed layout inserts the drag-force turbines in the free space the lift-force turbines leave, using the turbulent wind to generate power …

Analyzing Cavitation in Marine Propeller: A Computational Approach with Consideration for Polymer Applications
Abstract: A major source of noise and blade damage in marine propellers is because of the phenomenon of hydrodynamic cavitation. The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis approach is employed for the prediction of the cavitating propeller’s performance characteristics under various conditions of operation with the advance coefficient (J) ranging from 0.55 to 0.91 and cavitation number (σ) in the range of 0.80 to 4.50. The numerical simulation is performed on INSEAN …

Harnessing Marine and Agro-Waste Resources: Bioengineered Seaweed Polysaccharide–Coconut Films for Next-Generation Sustainable Packaging
Abstract: The increasing demand for biodegradable alternatives to petroleum-based plastics has led to significant interest in marine biopolymer-based packaging materials. This study focuses on the development of eco-friendly biocomposite films by reinforcing carrageenan, extracted from Kappaphycus alvarezii, with alkali-treated coconut at varying loadings (5%, 10%, and 15% w/w). The films were fabricated via solvent casting and subjected to comprehensive characterization. Mechanical analysis revealed substantial enhancement in tensile strength from 21.3 MPa …

Marine Algal Microfiber and Agro-Waste Reinforced Crosslinked Polymer Composites for Sustainable Coastal Materials
Abstract: Crosslinked bio-polymer composites reinforced with marine algal microfibers and agro-waste fillers were fabricated and systematically characterized for sustainable coastal applications. Mechanical testing revealed that tensile strength increased from 18.5 MPa for neat polymer to 25.1 MPa at 20 wt.% reinforcement (~35% improvement), while the flexural modulus improved from 0.72 GPa to 1.02 GPa (~42% increase). Impact strength, however, decreased from 3.8 kJ/m² for neat polymer to 2.9 kJ/m² at 30 …

Punjab’s Wetlands as Inland Analogues of Marine Ecosystems: Status, Stressors and CommunityLed Conservation.
Abstract: Aquatic and wetland ecosystems in Punjab, India, represent ecologically significant yet increasingly degraded socioecological systems embedded within an intensively managed agrarian landscape. Despite their recognised importance, existing studies largely treat these systems using conventional freshwater ecological frameworks, with limited integration of microbiologically mediated processes and broader ecosystem theories. A key research gap, therefore, lies in the lack of interdisciplinary approaches that can holistically interpret wetland structure, function, and governance across …

Reducing the Uncertainty of Marine Accidents Failure Rate in Harsh Environment; Using Bayesian Theory
Abstract: The interest in arctic activities is strong, but has not led to significant quantifying analysis over the fact of finding rescannable failure rate. To attract investors and promote the development of a marine industry, a clear concept of project risk is paramount; in particular, issues relating to human role in operation are critical. In the public domain, reliability of information is often scarce or inappropriate for such environment. Also, an …
