Thermal Care Practice for Newborns and its Associated Factors in Mekelle Hospital and Ayder Referral Hospital Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia, December 2016
Abstract: About 3,100 newborns die within 24 h of birth each day. Ninety percent of these babies could be saved if warmth is provided promptly besides breastfeeding. Seventy percent of these deaths could be prevented with simple low-cost interventions, coupled with educating mothers and health workers to facilitate widespread implementation of essential newborn care practices. Studies on thermal care practice in health facilities witnessed by mothers are missing. This study was …

Data Privacy in AI: Securing the Sensitive Information Through Homomorphic Encryption
Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) technology increasingly relies on sensitive user data, particularly finance and healthcare. While legacy encryption technologies safeguard data in transit and at rest, they are of no use when data must be decrypted to be processed. This is a bleak privacy threat, particularly in AI applications that call for constant processing of data. The objective of this study is to apply homomorphic encryption, a feature in which operations …

A Comprehensive Review on Federated Learning in Disease Detection
Abstract: Healthcare data, which is frequently dispersed among various organisations, has enormous potential to improve predictive analytics and illness identification. However, there are substantial privacy & legal obstacles to sharing this private data for centralised model training. Federated Learning is a paradigm shift that allows several organisations to work together to build a global model without disclosing raw patient information. Federated Learning uses a larger dataset to provide more reliable insights …

Community Acceptance towards Male Midwives in Tigray, Northern Ethiopia, 2015/16
Abstract: Cognizant to the higher maternal mortality ratio, limited access of maternal health services and scarcity of trained health professionals in developing countries including Ethiopia, unwilling to use the existing health services considering the sex of the healthcare providers poses additional challenge for maternity care. Though remained uncovered, pregnant women’s acceptance towards male midwife becomes more awful for uptake of the services provided by the health system. Hence, the current study …
