Computational Identification of Protein Tyrosine Phospatase-1B (PTP-1B) Inhibitors for Checking Type II Diabetes
Abstract: Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) are a family of enzyme that comprises of about 100 proteins which catalyze dephosphorylation of phosphotyrosine residues in protein substrates. Phosphotyrosine is a central element in cell signaling, and its activity is essential for cellular homeostasis and for appropriate responses to extracellular signals. PTP-1B antagonizes insulin signaling by reducing the activation state of the insulin receptor kinase, thereby inhibiting post-receptor signaling in insulin responsive tissue. The …

Mineralization of Phenanthrene by Paenibacillus sp. PRNK-6: Effect of Synthetic Surfactants on its Mineralization
Abstract: Paenibacillus sp. PRNK-6 isolated from a soil contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) was able to utilize 69.48% of phenanthrene (320 mg l-1) in 48 h. The effect of three synthetic surfactants namely, the nonionic surfactant Tween-80, the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and the cationic surfactant cetyltrymethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) on the phenanthrene mineralization by Paenibacillus sp. PRNK-6 was studied. Results showed that the effect of each surfactant …

Antifungal Activity of Thymol on Vegetable Tanned Leather
Abstract: Thymol is a key component of many essential oils and acts as active antimicrobial agent. It is a natural monoterpene phenol extracted from thyme, bishop’s weed (ajwain) and many other plants in varied quantities. Literature has marked for its successful application as antimicrobial activity. Thymol is used actively for its antibacterial and antifungal properties in agriculture and the field of medicine. In this research an attempt has been made to …

Studies on Biosurfactants from Petroleum Contaminated Soil to Check its Application in Cosmetics
Abstract: Biosurfactant is basically known as surface active molecules, synthesized by different microorganisms. In the present study, biosurfactant producing strains PD1 and PD2 were isolated from the petroleum contaminated site, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India. The isolates were screened by oil displacement and hemolytic methods. The optimization of different parameters was done with the aim of increasing product. Waste substrates were also used to reduce biosurfactant production cost. The surface tension reduction, …

Triboelectric Charge Density Enhancement in Zinc Oxide Decorated Polymer Nanogenerators for Energy Harvesting Systems
Abstract: The growing need for wearable electronics, wireless sensor networks, and IoT devices has pushed research on triboelectric nanogenerator for long-term energy harvesting. However, traditional polymer-based TENGs' low triboelectric charge density restricts their energy conversion efficiency and practical performance. This research presents a zinc oxide (ZnO)-decorated polymer triboelectric nanogenerator designed to enhance surface charge density and improve electrical output. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized using a hydrothermal method and uniformly deposited onto …

Enhanced Room-Temperature Gas Sensing Performance of 2% Mn-Doped Sri Lankan Natural Graphite Thin-Film Sensors for Ammonia, Acetone, and Ethanol vapors Detection
Abstract: The development of room-temperature gas sensors with high sensitivity, fast response, and low-cost remains a critical challenge for environmental monitoring and safety applications. In this work, we report the fabrication and characterization of a 2% Mn-doped Sri Lankan natural graphite thin-film sensor for the detection of ammonia (NH3), ethanol (C2H5OH), and acetone (C3H6O) vapors under ambient conditions. The sensor was prepared using the doctor-blade coating method on Indium Tin Oxide …

A Study on Chemical Composition in Temperature Sensor
Abstract: As the demand for precision thermal monitoring in extreme environments – such as aerospace propulsion systems and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) – continues to escalate, the chemical stability of temperature sensing elements has become a critical focal point. This study investigates the correlation between the chemical composition of thin-film resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) and their operational longevity under thermal cycling. By employing X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), …
