Abstract

Biosurfactant is basically known as surface active molecules, synthesized by different microorganisms. In the present study, biosurfactant producing strains PD1 and PD2 were isolated from the petroleum contaminated site, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India. The isolates were screened by oil displacement and hemolytic methods. The optimization of different parameters was done with the aim of increasing product. Waste substrates were also used to reduce biosurfactant production cost. The surface tension reduction, good emulsification efficiency with the products used in cosmetics recognized its application in cosmetic industries. Further detail analysis of these biosurfactants can be useful for its applications in other territories in future.
