Effect of Fragment Size and Contention Window on the Performance of IEEE 802.11 WLANs
Abstract: Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications industry. The IEEE has standardized the 802.11 protocol for wireless local area networks. The IEEE 802.11 standard has defined two different access mechanisms in order to allow multiple users to access a common channel, the distributed coordination function (DCF) and a centrally controlled access mechanism called the point coordination function (PCF). DCF is a carrier sense multiple …

Prediction of Depth-Induced Stress Distribution and Maintenance Cost Implications for Submerged Structural Components
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of water depth on stress distribution and structural integrity of submerged mechanical components . Structural models fabricated from mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper alloy were examined under hydrostatic loading corresponding to water depths between 30 cm and 150 cm. Atomizers in spray dryers: a review
Abstract: Atomization is the most important step in spray drying that defines the properties of liquid droplets after spraying, resulting in various forms of the dry product - from fine powders to granules. It basically refers to the disintegration of the liquid into droplets in the presence of a drying gas circulating in the medium, increasing its surface area until the droplet becomes unstable and disintegrates. The choice of the atomizer's …

Phase – Field Modeling of Brittle and Ductile Fracture Under Complex Loading Conditions
Abstract: Phase-field modeling has emerged as a powerful computational framework for predicting fracture behavior in engineering materials, offering a unified description of crack initiation, propagation, branching, and coalescence without the need for explicit crack tracking. This study presents an in-depth examination of phase-field modeling applied to both brittle and ductile fracture under complex loading conditions, including multiaxial stress states, cyclic loading, thermal gradients, and dynamic impact. The phase-field approach regularizes the …

Finite Element Modelling of Contact Stresses in Helical Gear Systems
Abstract: Helical gears are widely used in modern power‐transmission systems because of their high load‐carrying capacity, smooth meshing action, and increased overlapping of gear teeth. However, the design of helical gear pairs is constrained by contact stresses generated at the mating tooth surfaces, which can lead to surface fatigue (pitting), micro-cracking, and ultimately gear failure. Traditional analytical methods, such as those of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) or International Organization …

Investigations on PAPR Reduction using PTS Technique for OFDM Communication Systems
Abstract: AbstractOrthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a spectral efficient technique for high data rate communication systems. It also provides robustness to multipath frequency selective fading but suffers from high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and causes high power amplifiers to operate in the nonlinear region. In this paper partial transmit sequence (PTS) as PAPR reduction technique has been investigated. Mathematical modelling and Matlab simulation have been carried out to analyse its …
