Identification of Incidence and Outcome of Diffuse-Axonal Injuries
Abstract: Background: Diffuse axonal injury (DAI), a specific type of traumatic brain injury, may be caused by shearing forces leading to widespread tearing of axons and small vessels. This study is designed to identify the incidence, risk factors, mortality and analyze outcome in DAI. Method: 120 patients with DAI were recorded in the duration of 2 years. DAI was confirmed by signs of injury identified in radiology imaging. Patients underwent surgery, …

Physiotherapeutic Challenges in Treatment of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: A Review
Abstract: Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis is one of the most common diseases in the elderly. It is characterized by narrowing of the spinal canal creating compression of the neural structures causing a constellation of symptoms that may include low back pain, lower extremity radiculopathy, neurogenic claudication, and gait impairment. LSS is the most frequent reason for spinal surgery in elderly people. But knowledge about the effectiveness, in particular of the conservative …

Spinal Cord Compression Revealing a Spinal Osteochondroma
Abstract: Osteochondroma is a frequent cartilaginous tumor in adult, but the spinal localization is uncommon. They can be solitary or multiple (enchondromatosis) in the context of familial disease (MAFFUCCI syndrome). We report the case of a 27-years-old patient, hospitalized for progressive paraplegia. Medical imaging evokes the ostéochondroma diagnosis of the 5th dorsal vertebra. The histopathological findings confirmed the diagnosis. The patient was spectacularly recovered after surgery. Keywords: Benign bone tumor, osteochondroma, …

Fulminant Spinal Epidural Abscess with Gas
Abstract: Spinal epidural abscess is a medical emergency and is usually secondary to hematogenous spread. The primary focus in most cases is skin or soft tissue and is often associated with vertebral osteomyelitis and paraspinal abscess. The most common predisposing factor is diabetes. Other factors include immunosuppression, spinal surgery or trauma. Epidural abscess with gas is much rarer. We report the case of a 49-year-old diabetic lady with pararenal, paraspinal and …

The New Dimension of Cancer: It is Not a Disease but a Deficiency of Vitamin B17
Abstract: Most commonly used an alternative drug in the treatment of tumor in the last 40 years is Amygdalin. Treatment based on the use of Vitamin B-17, proteolytic pancreatic enzymes, immunostimulants, vitamin and mineral supplements for cancer is a metabolic therapy which is nontoxic. National Cancer Institute is unsuccessful to prove that Laetrile is ineffective and toxic during their studies by clinical trials in 1981. Today, position on the "front lines" …

Efficacy of Tele Rehabilitation in A Stroke Survivor with Aphasia: An Extensive case study
Abstract: Tele-rehabilitation refers to a mode of service delivery where therapy is imparted through tele-mode and tele-rehabilitation is extensively used in the treatment of communication disorders. Many efficacy studies have been reported earlier especially in clients with aphasia; however, most of these studies are western studies and the results cannot be generalised to Indian context, this fact necessitated the present study. The present attempt is a case study; the client was …

Unusual Distant Metastasis in Buccal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report
Abstract: Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are known to have high loco regional recurrence with distant mets being rare. However, distant metastasis are showing an increasing trend due to the improved locoregional control rates achieved with surgery and radiotherapy. The usual sites of distant failure are lung, liver, bone, adrenal, heart and kidney. Here is presented a case of buccal SCC presenting with unusual distant soft tissue mets after …

Management of Uterine Sarcomas - Current Concepts and Controversies
Abstract: Uterine sarcomas are a group of relatively rare malignancies with heterologous clinical behavior. Because of its rarity, there is dearth of randomized trials and hence there are no standard recommendations as how to manage these cases. Carcinosarcomas are now a separate entity and is managed similar to high grade endometrial carcinoma, since the sarcomatous element is proven to be of endometrial origin. Now, the major variants are leomyosarcoma (LMS), endometrial …

Adult Granulosa Cell Tumor of Ovary (GCT) – A Practical Approach
Abstract: Granulosa cell tumor (GCTs) are a rare group of tumors constituting less than 5% of all ovarian tumors and account for more than 70% of the sex cord-stromal tumors. They present with features of hypere-strogenism and are characterized by a good response to surgery but are notorious for late recurrences. Lifelong surveillance with serial clinical examination and tumor markers is advised. Adjuvant therapy, usually with BEP, is offered in high-risk …

Induction of Apoptosis using Gene Therapy in the Treatment of Cancer
Abstract: Gene therapy is the treatment of a genetic disease through the insertion of normal or genetically altered genes into cells in order to replace or make up for the non-functional or missing genes. A major application of gene therapy is the induction of apoptosis to inhibit metastases or cure cancer. Besides the identification of the target site, the choice of a suitable vector system for gene delivery is also critical …

A Comprehensive Review on Brain Tumour Classification through Deep Learning Utilizing Convolutional Neural Networks
Abstract: Abstract- Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) constitute a widely used deep learning approach that has frequently been applied to the problem of brain tumor diagnosis. Such techniques still face some critical challenges in moving towards clinic application. Brain tumours are classified using a biopsy, which is not normally done before conclusive brain surgery. The enhancement of this technology by machine learning could aid radiologists in tumour detection without the use of …
