Role of Clay Liners in Municipal Solid Waste Landfills: A Review
Abstract: Rapid population growth has significantly increased the generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) in urban and suburban regions. Disposal of MSW in landfills without proper liner systems may lead to leachate migration and subsequent contamination of groundwater and surrounding soils. The use of liner systems at the base of landfills is therefore essential to minimize leachate percolation and protect the environment. Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) and compacted clay liners (CCLs) …

Activating agents control the morphology of activated carbon materials from biomass
Abstract: The stems of the plant Calotropis gigantea (Cg) were were used as a feedstock for the activated carbon material. Carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) and oxalate (Na 2 C 2 O 4 ) were used as chemical activating agents. The morphological features of the activated carbon materials were characterized using FEG-SEM. The morphology of the activated carbon materials is found to depend on the type of activating agent used. …

Properties of Biodegradable Films based on Pectin, Mango Kernel Flour and Unrefined Palm Oil
Abstract: This study allowed to develop biodegradable films based on pectin, incorporating mango kernel flour and unrefined palm oil, whose physical and mechanical properties were investigated. Results highlighted the feasibility of developing of these composite films. The film properties showed variability in color, physical, barrier and mechanical properties, depending to concentration of ingredients. Biodegradable films obtained are homogeneous, non-cracked, uniform, and color is mainly orange. Opacity of films increased with the …

Graphene Based Electronic Skin for Wearable Health Monitoring and Human– review on Machine Interaction, Materials, Structures and AI Integration
Abstract: Graphene-based electronic skin (e-skin) has emerged as a transformative technology for next-generation wearable health monitoring and advanced human–machine interaction (HMI). Owing to its outstanding electrical conductivity, mechanical flexibility, atomic-scale thickness, and biocompatibility, graphene enables the fabrication of ultrathin, conformal, and multifunctional sensors capable of mimicking the sensory functions of natural human skin. Over the past decade, research in this domain has progressed rapidly across four interconnected fronts: material synthesis and …

DEVELOPMENT OF POLYMERSOMES AS MACROMOLECULAR PLATFORMS FOR NANOMEDICINE
Abstract: The conventional method of drug delivery is plagued with instability, low targeting and low bioavailability. A solution to these shortcomings is the use of polymer Somes, artificial vesicles that are produced through self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymer, and they are suggested as universal nanoscale carriers. They have stiff, tunable membranes (thickness = 2-50 nm) due to accurate control of polymer chemistry, chain length, and hydrophilic mass fraction (f), which allows …

Effect of Leading-Edge Roughness on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Wind Turbine blade
Abstract: Leading-Edge Roughness (LER) strongly dictates boundary layer transition and performance degradation on an airfoil operating at transitional Reynolds numbers, an aerodynamic regime where shear-layer stability mechanisms remain highly complex. The wind tunnel experiments were conducted to investigate the aerodynamic impacts of surface roughness applied over 25% of the chord of a NACA 0018 airfoil using two discrete roughness gradations. Surface roughness induces an early boundary layer trip, causing elevated section …

A Study to Assess the Nutritional Status of Kidney Failure Patients Undergoing Maintenance Hemodialysis
Abstract: Malnutrition is a common and serious complication among patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) and is strongly associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The present study was conducted to assess the nutritional status of patients on maintenance hemodialysis and to identify factors contributing to protein-energy malnutrition in this population. A cross-sectional and follow-up assessment was carried out among patients receiving regular hemodialysis at a dialysis center. …
