Viruses and Their Role in Periodontal Diseases: A Review
Abstract: Periodontal diseases are a group of inflammatory conditions that primarily affect the gums and other tissues surrounding the teeth. Traditionally, these conditions were thought to be driven largely by bacterial infections, with the bacteria triggering an immune response that leads to inflammation and tissue damage. However, recent research has revealed that viruses also play a significant role in the development and progression of periodontal diseases. Viruses, such as Human Cytomegalovirus, …

Exploration of 5-Hydroxybowdichione Flavonoids As Inhibitors of Dengue Virus Ns5 RNA-Dependent RNA Polymerase Using Molecular Docking Approach
Abstract: Objectives: Human lives are now seriously threatened by dengue fever, which is brought on by the dengue virus (DENV). Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which reproduce in still water, are the primary vectors of the arboviral virus known as dengue. It is well-recognized that phytochemicals have a high potential to eliminate bacterial, viral, and fungal infections in people. Thus, it demonstrates its inhibitory effects on the dengue virus. This study identifies some …

Uncovering the Comparative Efficacy of Antiviral Drugs and Caricapapaya Phytocompound as VP2H inhibitors in Ebola virus: An Insilico Molecular Docking Analysis
Abstract: The Ebola virus is a fatal disease that transmits from wild animals to humans. Infected individuals' body fluids such as spit, blood, perspiration, faeces, blood, saliva, breast milk, sperm, or fomites can transmit Ebola. Adhesion to cell membranes and penetration into the host organism are essential aspects in viral growth. The presence of VP24, as well as nucleoproteins and structural proteins, is necessary for nucleocapsid formation and integration. The inhibition …

The Role of Rubella Virus Infection among Women with Spontaneous Abortion in Al-Najaf Governorate
Abstract: Rubella virus could cause a spectrum of birth defects known as Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) if the infection occurs within the first or second trimester of pregnancy. Repeated miscarriage is defined as a condition with two or more consecutive abortions before the 20–25 weeks of gestation. Rubella remains to be a severe public health problem in developing countries. Recurrent miscarriage is a multi-factorial disease, which occurs in approximately 1%–2% of …

Molecular Surveillance of Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) Across Major Aquaculture Zones of Telangana, India
Abstract: Viral diseases represent a persistent threat to cyprinid aquaculture; however, region-specific surveillance data from tropical production systems remain limited. To address this gap, a comprehensive statewide active surveillance programme was undertaken across Telangana, India, from 2019 to 2022 to investigate the occurrence of two priority transboundary pathogens, Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) and Koi Herpesvirus (KHV). A total of 414 fish specimens were systematically collected from five surveillance sectors …

In Silico Screening of Terminalia chebula Phytocompounds as Potential Inhibitors of NTCP and DDB1 in Hepatitis B Virus Infection
Abstract: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major global health concern, and chronic carriers are at risk of developing cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and even death. Existing treatments can effectively inhibit viral replication, but they achieve little eradication of the virus because of covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) retention. In this investigation, bioactive compounds of Terminalia chebula, a plant known for its hepatoprotective and antiviral properties in traditional medicine, were …

In Silico Identification of Therapeutic Agents for Dengue Virus by Molecular Docking
Abstract: The dengue virus causes serious health issues and a loss of quality of life. Dengue poses a yearly threat to half of the world’s population. The drugs that are based on allopathy are expensive and also exhibit toxic effects on tissues and biological activities. It is also generally accepted that most pharmacologically active drugs, including those derived from medicinal plants, are isolated from natural sources. The present study is directed …
