Abstract

This study is a cumulative effort towards building a smart rover for the field of assistivetechnology. The rover has a robotic arm mounted on it which can be controlled using amobile application that can be installed on any smartphone. The robotic arm’s base is arobust four wheeled platform powered by electric motors and able to withstand some level ofharsh environment. The kinematic equations of the robot arm have been verified in this study.Safe to use for any human and property has been considered as the prime concern. It can bemanually controlled by the subject to pick and place an object by means of Bluetooth and thearm can be controlled by the real-time wrist and hand movements by odometry sensors of thephone. There is also a storage container on this rover to store the items picked by the arm andcarry. Due to the prominence of Bluetooth and mobile data in homes these days, this cancontribute towards an assistive technology medium that takes care of those who have chronicjoint problems. This acts as a portable exoskeleton that the subject does not need to be pushedaround by themselves but which can move itself.
