Abstract

Nanotechnology is a reliable and enabling environment friendly process for the synthesis of nanoscale particles of structures ranging from approximately 1- 100 nm. Since the chemical synthesis of nanoparticles have adverse effect in medical applications, green synthesis of nanoparticles is in a huge need. Silver is one of the substances used in nanoformulation. Silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized through silver nitrate through a simple green route using the clean, dried, powdered leaves of Cyclea peltata. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterised with the help of UV- vis spectrophotometry, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Further, these biologically synthesized nanoparticles were found to have good antimicrobial property against different bacterial spp. The most important outcome of this work will be the development of value added products from Cyclea peltata for biomedical and nanotechnology based industries. Keywords: Nanotechnology; Green synthesis; Silver nanoparticles; AFM; FTIRCite this ArticleKavyashree, Jenitta.
