Abstract

The nanoparticles are having the vast surface area because of their size is which in the nano range. All the nano structured materials possess a huge surface energy. The nanoparticles of inorganic compounds are used in various fields like electronics, optics, seed germination, paints, different types of sensors, water purification and biomedical fields. The present work is focused on preparation, characterization and application of Vigna radiata (mung bean) seed germination of MgO nanoparticles. The MgO nanoparticles were prepared by microwave-irradiation technique using room temperature ionic liquids. Microwave-irradiation technique is easy and rapid heating technique. The obtained MgO nanoparticles have been characterized by x-ray diffractometer (XRD), particle size analyser (PSA), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) and thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyser (TG/DTA) for structural properties, average particle size, surface morphology, bond analysis and thermal properties respectively. These attained MgO nanoparticles were used in the application of seed germination of mung bean. Keywords: MgO nanoparticles, microwave-irradiation, XRD, SEM, TG/DTA, seed germination
