Optimization of Performance of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger with Al2O3 Nanofluid as Working Fluid
Abstract: Heat exchangers are used to transfer heat between two process streams. Improving the rate of heat transfer as well as minimizing the pressure drop is one of the promising fields to focus on. Nanofluids with better thermo-physical properties can increase the heat transfer rate. In the present study, thermo-physical properties of Al2O3 nanofluid are compared with base fluid at different temperatures and the variation of heat transfer coefficient, output temperature …

Numerical Investigation of Effect of SiO2–Water Nanofluid on Convective Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop of a Novel Heat Sink
Abstract: In this work, SiO2–water nanofluids are utilized to improve heat transfer characteristics of a novel heat sink. Commercial Fluent and Gambit package is utilized to run the test. Two different thermal conductivity models previously introduced by other researchers are tested and it is shown that one of them predicts the heat transfer coefficients better in comparison to the other. The range of volume fractions are from 0.5% to 2%. Also, …
