Design and Development of an Optical Fiber pH Sensor using an Artificial Neural Network
Abstract: This project presents the development and design of an artificial neural network (ANN) in signal processing of optical fiber pH sensor. The pH sensor has bromophenol blue (BPB) solution as the indicator which is immobilized in a sol-gel thin film as a sensing material. The indicator shows change in color as pH of the solution changes and the spectra of these changes are calibrated to find the pH value. The …

Solid State Studies of Chitosan and Starch Blend Films
Abstract: In this study blend films of Chitosan and starch were prepared by conventional solution-casting technique. Their miscibility was characterized by scanning electron microscopic (SEM) technique and Intermolecular interaction in blend system was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic (FTIR) technique. SEM and FTIR measurements revealed that Chitosan/starch blends were miscible. Thermal properties of different blend compositions were assessed by Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA) and increase in the thermal stability of …

Dosimetric Aspects of Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate (NaPSS)
Abstract: Thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL), electron spin resonance (ESR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic techniques are used to study dosimetric applications of sodium polystyrene sulfonate (NaPSS). The TSL, ESR, FTIR spectra are recorded for NaPSS-exposed different amounts of gamma radiation doses. The spectra observed under different conditions suggest that the NaPSS can be used for dosimetric applications based on the condition of linear variation of physical properties against the radiation dose.
