Abstract

“HAPTICS is a technique that gives virtual environments a tactile element. With haptic interfaces, we may create the impression that we are feeling surfaces, manipulating virtual clay, or moving objects around on a computer in addition to seeing them. Because touch is the brain's most powerful learning mechanism—more so than sight or sound—the new technology has enormous potential for use in education. Using haptic technology is similar to using a stick to explore a virtual world. press back with the stick if you press it inside a virtual balloon. A haptic interface, which is a stick, scalpel, racket, or pen attached to force-exerting motors, is how the computer transmits sensations. Thanks to this technology, we can now touch objects that are limited to the computer's "mind" while seated at a computer terminal. As feedback from computer programs, users can feel sensations in their hands or other body parts by using specialized input/output devices (joysticks, data gloves, or other devices). When paired with a visual display, haptics technology can be utilized to train people for hand-eye coordination activities such as spaceship movements and surgery.
