Abstract Demand for air conditioning is growing speedily especially in developing countries (South-East Asia) due to income growth, population growth and the need for better comfort level to protect from heat exposures. Only few models estimated future air conditioning use in major areas with increased heat level. However, worldwide and local studies concerning climate variables with air conditioning alone are lacking when facing additional heat due to climate change. More research and detailed data of air conditioning use affecting; increasing electricity consumption, climate change and relations with the urban heat island effect is required. Climate change improvement can be obtained by using renewable energy sources, particularly photovoltaic electricity generation, to power air conditioning; and other sustainable methods are required to reduce heat exposure.
