Abstract

The widespread embrace of 3D printing technology stems from its capacity to minimize material waste, offer versatile design options, and enable the production of intricate structures. 3D printed polymer composites reinforced with fibers (carbon, glass, nylon etc.) have been extensively used in automobile, marine, aerospace and energetic applications due to their excellent properties. Nylon fiber is light weight, resistance to damage from oil and chemicals, tough, strong and has higher coefficient of friction whereas polymethyl meth acrylate provide flexible solutions through polymeric innovation. Overall Nylon and polymethyl meth acrylate are two versatile and widely used materials, each with its unique set of properties and characteristics. Nylon fiber-reinforced polymethyl methacrylate samples are created through 3D printing, varying the nylon-to-polymethyl methacrylate ratios. This process utilizes an FDM printer that heats filament and deposits materials layer by layer, achieving the desired resultsTests are conducted on the samples to evaluate the mechanical properties of the 3d printed nylon fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymethyl meth acrylate samples. The results showcase the mechanical properties of the samples when subjected to tensile, flexural and izod impact tests. The results of this study shows that the mechanical characteristics of samples fabricated with different proportions of nylon in polymethyl meth acrylate.
