Abstract

This study focuses on a preliminary healing ability consisting of a healing agent (bis-propargyl-succinate, BPS) injected into a curing polymer (glycidyl azide polymer-based polyurethane, GAP-based PU) via “azide-alkyne” click. The preliminary healing behavior of BPS injected GAP-based PU is investigated. The stress at break of BPS injected GAP-based PU is in the range of 0.169 – 0.218 MPa comparing with 0.244 MPa of GAP-based PU, and the highest preliminary healing efficiency of BPS injected GAP-based PU is achieved to be 86.0%. Moreover, the preliminary healing ability bases on the diffusion of BPS into the cut surfaces of GAP-based PU, as well as the healed positions of the specimens become stronger through the preliminary healable “azide-alkyne” click. It implies that BPS is employed to heal the damage of the GAP-based PU through injection of BPS into the damage GAP-based PU. Thus, BPS becomes a promising candidate for self-healing material in GAP-based PU matrix.
