Abstract

AgGaO2 nanocomposites were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis. The crystal was assessed using Scherer equation for the as-prepared nanoparticles and annealed samples of AgGaO2 at 40 and 55 nm, respectively. Silver and gallium nitrates were reacted in an alkaline medium using NaBH4, which was used to reduce particle size. The presence of relatively homogeneous nanocomposites was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Morphological studies were analyzed by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Vibration modes were produced by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy. Photocatalytic studies were performed for the as-prepared sample for three different dyes, namely, methylene blue, methyl orange and rhodamine-B. Keywords: AgGaO2, chemical synthesis, crystal size, dyes, frequency, photocatalytic degradation
