Abstract

Nanoparticles of nickel oxide (NiO) have been prepared by foaming technique. Nickel nitrate hexahydrate as a source of nickel and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a surfactant were used for the synthesis of nickel oxide. Air flow rate of 0.3 lpm through sparger was controlled by rotameter. NiO is prepared by calcination of nickel hydroxide. The generated foam was collected from the sample outlet provided at the top of the glass column at a distance of 0.88 m from column sparger. The NiO nanoparticles have been characterized by X-ray diffraction and SEM. Characterization confirmed nickel oxide nanoparticles formation. Keywords: Foam fractionation, FTIR, NiO, SEM, XRD
